Sorry for the long wait, I was on vacation to Tennessee so I got some inspiration from the mountains. But when I got back I just wanted to settle down and work on some of my other stories. I did basically plan out how this story goes so I will hopefully be writing it a lot faster now that I'm not improvising. Since it has been a while make sure to retread the other chapters if you need and remember to smack that like button for me to know that you are enjoying this story. Aside from that, let's begin.
For the first time in ten years, I stepped off of the same old dirty bus into the cold frigid mountain. All my friends stood next to me holding all of our luggage. I looked around and stared at the beautiful tall pine trees. It's been so long since we last came here.
" Hey guys, look" yelled out Mateus. We followed him behind the trees that lead to another small clearing. It was the police setup, except that everything was destroyed! All the cameras were smashed and scattered all around the floor. In one of the trees was an axe. I walked over to it and yanked it out of the tree, the handle was bloody.
" Um, I think we should just you know" said Elyssa nervously stepping back towards the path. Nina and Kayla followed, but I was curious. What happened here. Then I saw something behind the tree. I moved the bush out of the way and saw a dead decayed wolf.
" It's fine guys, just an animal attack" I said reassuringly. We quickly left the setup and made our way over to the cabin, but I took the axe with me. I had a bad feeling about this place, I think I'm the only that remembers hearing the gunshot before watching Brianna "die".
Amanda took out the cabin key and unlocked the door. A huge cloud of dust blew into my nose. Unfortunately, I inhaled at that exact moment and choked on the dust. Everyone ignored me and just walked right in.
" Well, Daniel, Kayla. You guys did it ten years ago, why not do it again" exclaimed Amanda. Kayla sighed and grabbed the flashlight that was on a coffee table next to the door. I opened the door to the basement and she turned on the flashlight. It looked like something straight out of a horror movie. Old, cracked, wooden walls and a creaky staircase leading down into a dark empty void. Kayla and I looked at each other. Then someone nudged me down a few steps and Kayla too, then locks the door. I tried to act brave and slowly made my way all the way down to the bottom.
" Well this isn't that bad, just have to find the generator and turn it on" I said nervously waving my flashlight around trying to get a good look at everything." Do you remember where it is, cause I don't plan on being in here any longer" I said nervously. Kayla looked at me with a little smirk and kept on walking. It was like maze of old furniture and shelves filled with boxes and files. It felt like we were in here for hours when it was only two minutes. Finally after searching through the horrifying basement I saw the generator. Right through the crack of a shelf.
" Look look look" I said excitedly pointing through the crack." Let's start moving this stuff out of the way" I said. Kayla and I worked together taking the heavy boxes off of the shelf and placing them on the ground until it was completely barren. Then we worked together to move it out of the way.
There it was, the beautiful machinery known as the generator. Sitting there in the corner of the room next to a small window that let a sliver of light shine through, it was magnificent. We both ran to it and I grabbed the lever and kept on tugging it until the lights turned on. Then Kayla went to the power box and flipped them all on, including the basement.
We turned off our flashlights and looked around the room. Almost everything was ripped and covered in dust as if it was ancient. Kayla walked over to an open box.
" Look Daniel" she said. I walked over to her to see a picture of Amanda, Brianna, Kayla, and Elyssa all standing around a cake that said 7." It was their seventh birthday. Also the first time I ever came here" she said. She folded the paper and put it in her pocket along with a few other pictures. Then I heard something move.
" What was that" I whispered nudging Kayla. I looked at her and she looked confused to. It sounded like stuff being moved out of the way, shoved, pushed, thrown. I crouched and tried peeking through the shelves to see a tall dark figure walking through the maze moving things out of its way.
" That's not them, we have to get out" I whispered to her. Then I heard a strange noise that sounded familiar. It was a gun reloading. Kayla seemed to notice since she grabbed my arm nervously. Upstairs the music blared, how dare they have a party without us two. I stepped back but pulled a cable that was on the floor. It knocked over some boxes that soon fell on a shelf and it started to topple over. I heard the gun being reloaded again.
Suddenly just as it was all quiet, there was a loud bang. My ears wrung as I closed my eyes and covered my ears. We had to get out of here, fast. I looked and saw the figure walking towards us. Kayla grabbed a trophy and threw it across the room. It stopped in its tracks and then turned around away from us. There was no way to get out without him noticing. Then I remembered, the window.
We ran over to it and opened it. I helped Kayla crawl out. I looked back and saw the man walking towards us. She was finally out so I ran over to the shelves and pushed them over trying to slow him down. One of them fell on top of him, now was my chance. I ran over to the window and Kayla helped me out. I turned around and pushed and window closed. Next to us was a large piece of wood. We worked together to push it over the window blocking his way out.
