This story begins on the first day of summer, in a small town called Winter Falls. A beautiful and careless sixteen year old girl, with long brown hair that's always pulled back into a sporty ponytail, has something dangerous fall into her hands and she doesn't even know. Fortunately, she isn't alone. A tall and smart sixteen year old boy with blond hair and a sweatshirt is there to help her.

"Come on Ryder, it's summer; lighten up," Adeline told her best friend.

"Swimming in a mall fountain isn't lightening up, it's something that will get us banned from the mall." Ryder was certainly not pleased with the idea.

"Ugh, you're so boring." With that, Adeline, more commonly known as Addy, stepped out of the fountain.

If you haven't figured it out yet, Addy doesn't believe in rules.

"Yeah, because trying not to get banned from the mall is boring." Addy just rolled her eyes at what Ryder had said.

"You're my best friend and best friends are supposed to do dumb things together," Addy complained trying to do a puppy dog face, and epically failing.

"Come on Addy, you know that's not going to work. Let's go to Mr. Linden's library. It's closing and he's selling all of the books."

"Fine Mr. Boring," Addy slowly started to follow Ryder to the library, planning to drag her feet the whole way there.

They finally reached the library. it really only took five minutes, but it seemed like hours to Addy. Of course, Addy didn't truly realize what the library held.

"Come on Addy it's just a library, it's not going to kill you," Ryder stated while forcing Addy through the old wooden doors.

Addy's mouth dropped when she saw the shelves filled with books. The bookshelves looked ancient, but for some reason, they looked better than new ones. The spiral staircase was painted black with tiny roses and skulls painted on as well. The bookshelves were painted the same way.

Addy really enjoyed how the placed looked, but she would never admit that she actually liked a library. The truth is she spent almost two hours every day in a corner that was just upstairs. As shocking as it is her favorite kind of books were the old ones, the ones that were falling apart and covered in dust. Even though she really liked Mr. Linden's library, she would never tell anyone. The only reason she was shocked is that no one seems to want any of the books.

"Addy, are you okay? You have seen a library before, right?" Ryder didn't like the way Addy was acting.

"Of course, I've seen a library before idiot," Ah, one of Addy's common comebacks.

"Just checking." Addy gave Ryder a death stare that lasted about five seconds.
Ryder slowly walked up and down the rows and rows of books. Each book he picked up left his hand covered in dust. Some even fell apart, and Ryder would stand there watching as each page hit the ground.

"These books are junk, no wonder this library is being closed," Ryder said quite harshly.

"You have no right to say that! These books have been around for years and it's sad that people can't see their value." Ryder stood there stunned at Addy's words.

"Nevermind, can we leave now? You got to see the books," Ryder just nodded in response, still stunned.

Addy and Ryder headed to the exit, but a creepy old man stopped them in their tracks. His name is literally the creepy old dude, just kidding, his name is Mr. Linden.
