-Skye's POV-

My phone kept ringing...and ringing...and RINGING! I stuffed my face in my pillow and groaned. It's still dark outside yet someone's trying to call me. The phone stopped ringing, finally. I bet it's Kelly, considering how persistent the caller is. Doesn't she know what time it is?!

I pull back the covers and walk to the bathroom. It's still dark as I search for the light switch. I flick it on and the light is blinding. "Ah! This is why I don't like using the bathroom in the middle of the night..." I hiss as I force my eyes to adjust. I then step into the shower, then, when I'm done, dry up, brush my teeth and wrap my hair in a towel.

I slowly open the door and step out of the bathroom. It's only 4:30am. To save time, I decide to change into my outfit for the day and hop back into bed. As I'm pulling the covers over my body, I glance over at Melanie's bed and realize she's not there.

I get up as though my life depends on it and rush over to her bed. It's neatly made, everything's in place. "Where the hell did she go?" I say to myself. I'm in my own company so it doesn't matter what I say or how I say it. I decide to go over to the window and peek out at midnight campus. The fountain's stopped flowing, probably to save natural and electrical resources.

Just then, I spot shadows moving in the distance. In the same moment, I notice cold wind coming through the window and see that it's open a crack. 'She probably snuck out!' I thought to myself. "Skye! I'm so glad you're up! I was worried I'd have to go through the hall entrance!" She turns around and kisses the guy that was with her. He was a good 3 inches taller than her, probably 5'11. Dark hair, green eyes. "See ya later." She whispered to him. She bit her bottom lip and smiled. "Now, help me in." She extended her arms and I pulled her through the window.

"Now who was that guy?" I asked her as she was changing into more comfortable clothing. "Oh! That was my boyfriend. Well, we're not officially 'In a Relationship'," she said, air quoting, "But, we've been dating for a good 3 months." She smiled.

"Well, you guys are cute...But what are you thinking?! Going out at his time?! What if something were to happen to you?" I asked. "This was the only time, okay?" She shrugged. "Promise me you won't do it again." I told her. "I promise." she replied.

-2 hours later-

"You were the one telling me to wake up early!" Melanie yelled, trying to get me awake. "I'm not even asleep!" I got up and threw a pillow at her. "It's still summer vacation! Is there something so urgent that I had to get up?!" I looked at her and she just started laughing.

"I'm sorry, you just looked so...ah...nevermind. It's already 1:00pm. We're having a picnic today, remember?" She asked, waiting for it to register. It had pretty quickly, I just didn't think we'd be going this early. "I'm dressed and awake. I was just reading." I said, rubbing my eyes.

"Then let's go!" She grabbed my arm and pulled me from my bed and out the door. We scurried all the way to the garden where three people were waiting for us. One of them was Mel's cousin, whose name I forgot overnight. He was sitting pretty close to some girl. 'It shouldn't bother you, you just met him yesterday!' I told myself. But it did.

"Hey Kyle! Liam!" She went up and hugged them. She looked at the girl and gave her a fake smile. The girl flipped her hair right into Mel's right eye.  She hissed and her head flicked forward, her hand rubbing it. "You okay, Melanie?" I went up to her and checked her eye. "Nothing's in it, you're good." I told her as I gave her some space. She rubbed her eye then blinked a bit, finally looking out of it properly.

She stared right at that girl, giving her the nastiest look I've ever seen her put on. Well, for the day I've known her. "Kyle...What the fuck is this bitch doing here?!" She yelled, pointing at her. I was shocked by her choice of words, "Melanie!" I gasped.

"Kyle happens to like my company..." She put her arm through his and cuddled close to him. She then gave him a peck on the lips. Kyle, on the other hand, looked kind of disgusted. He then looked at me, and I looked away. "You're the bitch, you fucking whore! Go fuck a pig, skank! What are you looking at hoe?" She addressed the last remark to me. I was just surprised. What did I do?

"Hey, what's your problem?" The other guy went up to her. She was short, so he was looking down on her. "These two are attacking me." She said, trying to play the victim. "Looks to me like it's the other way around." Kyle added, looking her dead in the eye.

She looked at all of us. A look of embarassment took over her. "Thanks for defending me, Kyle!" She spat, then ran off. "Tiffany!" He called, but she was gone. He went to go after her, but Melanie grabbed his arm, "Don't." She told him. He gave her an 'I have to look.' then ran after her. Well that's just great!

"Sorry about that. He's dating a sad person. I'm Liam by the way." He shook my hand and smiled. I just now noticed that he had gorgeous hazel eyes. His afro was also pretty big, but considering he's mixed, it makes sense. "I'm Skye." I replied. "She's not just sad, she's a bitch. Sleeping with my boyfriend." Melanie spat. "Your current boyfriend?" I asked.

"Well, yeah..." She looked ashamed. I decided not to take it up. Kyle walked back into the garden and sighed. "Sorry about that, Skye." He said, still panting. "Don't worry about it." I replied, giving the best smile I could despite my disappointment. So he goes for that kind of girl.

"By the way, might as well say this now." Melanie started, which got my attention. "Kyle and I aren't actual cousins. Just good friends." She said, laughing a bit to herself. "Since when do you say you're cousins?" Liam asked, seeming confused.

"I just said that yesterday because I thought it sounded believable. Sorry, Skye." She said, looking at me. "I don't mind. I never really believed it, anyway." I replied, trying to hide the lie. "Sure!" Kyle said, laughing. "You're a bad liar." Liam added. "That's a good thing, though." Mel said, coming to my rescue. I sat beside her, "Just another one of my great qualities.

"So, we gonna have this picnic or what?" Liam asked. "Yeah, we are. I got the blanket." Melanie called out, enthusiactically. She pullled out one of those picnic blankets you see in the shows, along with the basket. I burst into hysterics. "You actually have one of those?" I asked. "Yes! I got it from Chapters!" She said, acting offended. "

Since when does Chapters sell picnic supplies?" Kyle asked. "Since the day Melanie didn't come to my mom's shop and buy them." Liam added. "Your mom owns a shop?" I asked, curious. "Yeah. One of those Pier One Imports stores." He replied, all non-chalant. "I know, right?! Acts like it's no big deal." Melanie said as she unpacked the food. "That's because it isn't!" He laughed. "Well, let's dig in." I said. "Not so fast, Skye." Someone said from behind me. Who the hell...?
