Both Kate and i looked at each other and then at the man with a face of confusion. The smoke was clearing now, so I looked behind him and saw that there was something quite amazing. There was nothing! Nothing at all. No remains as to how the explosion occurred, except for all this ash.
"Your not the Doctor!" Kate refused. "The Doctors got brown, curly hair! You've just got a beard and some short, grey hair!"
"Kate, shut up." I snapped at her. She looked at me furiously,
"Wha..."
"Um, how did this explosion occur?" I interrupted.
"Explosion? Why that was no explosion!" The man said with a chuckle. "That was just me forcing my regeneration!"
"You can do that?" I asked.
"Of coarse you can!" He replied. "The explosion is set off from the remaining energy left over from the regeneration!" He started to explain.
"What 'left over energy' is that?" I asked interested.
Kate had a look of disbelief, "Your not actually listening to this guy are you?"
"Shhhh..." I responded.
"Usually, when you regenerate, the energy mainly is trying to fix the damaged area. So when you don't have any damaged area, that energy goes to waste!" Replied the old man.
"Wow... that's so interesting!" I exclaimed at the risk of sounding sarcastic. Suddenly, such an obvious thought went through my mind. I looked at the man and said, "But why did you regenerate in the first place?"
"Ah! Now thats a good question!" He responded with a smile. He stepped forward towards us and took out the D-mat gun. Kate and I both gasped, very surprised.
"Th... The D-mat Gun!" Said Kate. I looked away from his hands and at Kate.
"Do you believe hes the Doctor now?" I asked with a smirk. Kate nodded very slightly.
"But I still have my doubts!" She said bringing herself together.
"Oh, I'm sure you do!" Said the Doctor. "But! Before you get all whinny, lets get cracking" At that point, I'd forgotten about the question I had asked him, but I knew I would get that answer out of him. Once again, the Doctor ran off.
This Doctor seemed very different from the last one, almost as if he wasn't the Doctor, like he was someone else. Something else. All the Doctors I've seen on Doctor Who have certain personalities, but this one, this one seemed blank. We followed him down the road and towards the senate once again.
"Doctor! Why are we going back there?" I asked once he'd stopped. "Aren't there Daleks there?"
"No, no silly! They would have all cleared off by now!" He said without looking at me. "They would all be looking for us!" He said shortly after. "Our biggest worry is finding something."
"What is that exactly?" Kate asked impatient. "What is so important?" The Doctor paused and looked at both of us with a face of worry. He broke out into a walk without answering her and we tailed along behind him with unanswered questions. "Doctor! You have to answer our questions!" Said Kate in annoyance.
"No I don't!" He replied. "Why do I have to tell you anything?" He started walking faster now, until we came to a big square surrounding the senate. He stopped suddenly and looked around him for something, and once again, walked off towards the building.
"What is he doing?" I asked Kate. She shrugged and kept following the Doctor. The Doctor suddenly stopped again and we almost ran into the back of him.
"Stay here." He said in a gruff voice. You sort of didn't want to cross him when he said that, because you felt like he might punish you, so we just decided to do what he said. As soon as he was out of hearing range I asked Kate,
"Kate, if he's the ninth Doctor, then..."
"I know, it confuses me too." She interrupted, "But lets just go along with it." I sure hoped Kate knew what she was doing because I did not.
