Daniel woke up to someone flopping down on his stomach and the sound of giggling. He knew that laugh all to well, he should have been use to being woken up like this. That's how Isabelle woke him up every morning for the past year, she says it's the quickest way to get him up.
He groaned covering his face and rubbing his eyes, "By the angel Izzy!"
Isabelle got off of him and started to jump on his bed, "Well you need to wake up!"
He uncovered his face and glared at his best friend, "What's so important?"
Isabelle's smile fell from her face like something was wrong, "My mom wants to see you, she says it's important."
He sat up stretching his arms, "You know you're the only one I allow to wake me up like that and jump on my bed."
Isabelle continued to jump, "Yeah, I know."
He had a feeling what it was about and he wasn't looking forward to the punishment. A couple of days ago, he got really frustrated with the others boys and all the books in the library fell off the shelves. Its took days to get everything back in order, but he didn't get off the easy. He got his stele and weapons confiscated by the Lightwoods, until they felt he was ready to get them back. It wasn't his fault that he couldn't control the magic that was building inside of him.
He still didn't know how exactly he got blamed for it, the only person who knew he possessed magic was Isabelle and she promised not to tell. There were a couple of slip ups but he was quick to cover them up. But he had no control over what happened in the library during their studies. Isabelle finally stopped jumping on his bed and flopped down, hanging her head of the edge.
He leaned back against the headboard, "Sometimes I wonder how we stayed friends."
"Cause you love me." Isabelle said turning towards him.
He shrugged, "That's debatable."
Isabelle scoffed covering hand over her chest, offended by what he had said. He rolled his eyes laughing and Isabelle stuck out her tongue at him. He shook his head yawning as he got out of his bed and grabbed his clothes. Isabelle left to go downstairs and he went into the bathroom to get ready. He took a quick shower and got dressed before heading back into his room. He was towel-drying his hair when there was a knock on the door. He turned around to see Maryse Lightwood, standing in the doorway.
"Oh, you're awake." she said walking over to the bed.
She sat down and patted the seat next to her for him to sit down. He sat his towel down on the chair and slowly walked over to Maryse. He reluctantly sat down next to the woman and looked down at his hands. He wouldn't admit it out loud but he was afraid of Maryse. Just being in the same room as her made his hair's stand on edge.
"There's a meeting with the Consul later and I expect you to be on your best behavior." Mrs. Lightwood said sternly looking at him.
He looked at her raising an eyebrow, "About what exactly?"
"About your little ordeal in the library a few weeks ago." She said.
He looked at Mrs. Lightwood with a hint of disappointed in his eyes, "I promise it won't happen again, this is my home. Please, I don't want to leave."
