I sat waiting. The room was empty when i arrived, but now other than us sat an old man. He didn't look hurt or injured so I wondered why he was here. The clocks ticking sounded each second that passed, another second we waited. Waiting for the news that could change everything. Could put a whole new perspective on my world, our world.

Liam sat the furthest away from me, his head in his hand sighing every now and then. Harry and Louis played a game where they tried to throw small paper balls into the several cups scattered across the floor. Zayn sat on my right seemingly interested with his phone although he was still on his home page. Niall sat on my left sipping a coffee and occationaly glancing at me.

I small woman with a clipboard waltzed into the room, a slight concern in her eye.

"Poppy Payne?" she looked around the room as if it wasn't obvious who I was, the only girl in the room. I stood up slowly, showing a small smile.

Liam looked at me for the first time we were here. He swiftly stood up and stood behind me, holding my wrist. He gave me a curt nod, and started to follow the woman. I could hear the boys voices starting to talk. I glanced back at Niall just before I exited threw the door, his eyes were glued to me. Full of pity, remorse and fear.

"Sit down, there's some bad news." She said pointing to the chairs opposite her desk. I was hesitant at first. Bad news there can be, nothing serious happened, it was small. Insignificant. Just a slight trip, a slight tumble. It was only an accident.

"It seems that your fall might have put damaged on the survival of your baby. We are not one hundred percent sure yet so we need to keep you in for the rest of the day and possibly over night so we can run some tests, so we can be positive." She stared at me never breaking eye contact, as if this was nothing horrible to hear. Sure I didn't plan to have a baby, never occurred to me that this was something I wanted. I didn't, it wasn't my choice, but I was going to put a positive spin on on a bad situation, make it great and better but now. Now I might never meet this baby, the baby made from pure hate.

Liam spoke first, I was grateful for that. "Ok, but will it be ok if she comes home with us first to get her stuff if she staying the night here?"

"Of course sir what ever will make this easier. You will be able to have someone stay with you as well tonight as long as there ok staying on the arm chair in your room." She replied smiling at me she stood up, we did as well following suit. "We'll see you as soon as you get back, poppy."

We leaved the room and watched as the nurse walked away in the opposite direction. Liam turned to face me. Any anger he had towards me was gone since I fell down the stairs. "Poppy im so sorry, I didn't want this to happen to you. But maybe it wouldn't be the worse thing to happen to you, maybe its a sign that having this baby isn't the best idea for you. Especially at your age?"

"yeah I guess maybe." I sighed. He engulfed me into a hug. Squeezing me slightly before letting go. "Come on then, lets go and get your stuff before you need to come back here." he told me nicely.

We walked back into the waiting room the old man still sat in the corner reading a newspaper. Maybe he had a wife her or a relative. Maybe he just liked to be somewhere safe and clean, I guess its just another thing I would never know. Harry and Louis had given up on there game and had left the tiny bits of ripped up leaflet balls scattered on the ground. They were now sat on either side of Zayn annoying him by fiddling with his hair. Niall was still sat in the same place rolling the now empty coffee cup in betweeen his hands. His glance was towards me as I walked back in the room.

"What happened is everything alright?" Zayn asked a little bit to optimistic.

"They're not to sure yet, im going back to the house to get some of my things. Than I have to come back here." I said with far less optimism.

----

"Poppy do you think you'll be alright? Like the baby and all?" Niall asked. He and Liam weren't exactly on speaking terms, but they were being polite because of me. "Like what if its not, where will it go, how does it ehm not be in you?" He sat folding the bed sheet in his fingers.

"I honestly don't know. I hope everything's fine and all but you can never know properly can you." I breathed zipping my overnight bag shut. I briefly had it on my shoulder before Niall had it off and on his. "You know I am able to hold things?"

"I know, but its more fun this way." he smiled

"How so?" I queried

"Because I feel more manly!" he said, his voice as deep as it could go. I giggled at his childish behaviour as he ran round my room as super hero. He discarded the bag on the floor and carefully picked me up, placing me on my bed.

"Niall!" I giggled. "You know Liam still pretty annoyed at us. Mostly you though he could never stay mad at his favourite cousin!" I said my voice full of sarcasm. I looked to my side where Niall sat. His fingers laced in my hair.

"He'll get over it im sure, eventually." I said quietly.

"Poopy time to leave!" liam's voice boosted around the house.

Niall jumped up and took hold of my bag. "I got this," he said smugly. We walked down the stairs in the the awkward presence of Liam.

"Ok let's go then." I said as happily as I could muster.

"Wait, wait wait!" Louis screetched running towards us full speed. "Here, for the journey," he said handing a bar of chocolate.

"Thanks Louis!" I said as he grabbed me into a tight hug.

"Have fun!" He whispered in my ear.

I sighed and turned back to face Liam, Niall and the door.

"Lets go then!" Niall said as happy as he could, considering where we were going might not be the happiest of places.
