Carson
He watched her intently. He was very careful not to take his eyes from her. He knew what she was up to. She thought that she was safe. But the truth was that neither of them was. They were both going to pay for what was going on between them. If only he could figure out how. His grey eyes narrowed in thought. He’d never trusted a woman before. He couldn’t believe that he’d been stupid enough to do so with Vanessa. Robert Carson had only one rule. And that was to never let anyone in.
There was a knocked at his door. He knew who it was even before the door opened. He turned round in his chair. It was Vanessa. The sight of her disgusted him. But luckily he was a good actor and it didn’t show on his face.
“Ah, Vanessa.” He paused. He thought about what he might say to her. “To what do I owe the pleasure?”
Her next words shocked him. “When were you going to tell me about Samuel Meyers?”
They continued to talk about Meyers but Carson soon lost interest. He just wanted to know how she knew. But it didn’t matter. It wasn’t like she would be able to tell anyone. His eyes skewered her.
“Is there anything you want to tell me Vanessa?” Carson mused.
“Robert, what are you talking about?” She said absentmindedly.
“Don’t fuck with me Vanessa,” Carson hissed
Vanessa’s eyes flickered to the Sig Sauer P220 situated between her and Carson. She knew what was coming. And she knew exactly what he was talking about.
“Robert I know what this looks like but-.” Her eyes rolled back in her head as Carson’s bullet hit her throat.
The door opened and a surprised looking Brady Collins stepped in.
Carson was expecting him. The boy was just in time. Carson smiled to himself. The look on Brady's face was priceless.
Brady took one look at Vanessa’s dead body and he bolted. Carson smiled at how well things were coming together. And Brady, well, he would get what was coming to him. Carson stood up and took his gun. He didn’t even glance at Vanessa. He didn’t care. He made his way out of the room. He had a flight to catch.
