The pain passed after a couple of minutes and I was back on my feet to help Devyn lay out pies and cupcakes on the front counter.  The bakery opened in 20 minutes, and I was quite excited. I haven't had a real job before. There was only a small amount of space behind the counter, so Devyn and I kept running into each other, but I didn't mind.

The bakery opened at 10am, and my main job was to work the cash register. When I wasn't taking someone's order, I sat and watched Devyn as she walked around the bakery tending to all the customers. Even when she spilt a glass of water on her pants, she still smiled. I admired her enthusiasm. I also admired her beauty. At 3 o'clock, there was no one in the bakery, so Devyn and I decided to take a break and make ourselves a cup of coffee.

"So, how's your first day going?" She asked.

"I'm having a lot of fun!" I say back, more fun than I've ever had, I think to myself.

"My pants have started to dry off," She adds with a giggle.

We quickly finish our coffee and get back to work as the customers start to enter the bakery. Devyn and I decide to switch positions, so now I am serving. I have never been a waitress, so I am sorta nervous. But I quickly catch on and I really enjoy it. The minutes pass by quickly and it's almost 5 o'clock. We close down the bakery and I say my goodbyes to Devyn. She smiles widely at me and I start to blush. Why am I blushing?, I yell to myself in my head. I grab my bag and walk back to my apartment. Home sweet home.
