Frantically, we are taken to the balcony atop the stage, while 22 others are Reaped. It is strange this way, because for some reason, they are only taking 24 tributes instead of all the children. It must be because of the so called "rebellion" that may happen. 23 people to face is enough anyway.
I watch as two more are Reaped. "Roxanne Marde, and Chad Brunt," Effie spoke with a smile. Roxanne was unlike any girl I had ever seen. She was tall, and strong, and looked bigger than Chad.
Her partner Chad was muscular, but that wasn't the scariest part about him. His face was so strong looking, that no matter what he was thinking, his face always reflected anger.
My mom had told me that we were going in pairs of two instead of districts. This is so we can still be showcased and have a team. Sadly, Effie will not be on any team.
She began to speak the next two, "Melody Talon, accompanied by Ryan Laddy!"
The two creep up the stairs, scared as can be. They shiver with fear, and Melody looks up to me. Our eyes lock, and I see the fright in her. Then they look strong. They had been told many times before not to show weakness, but I knew how this would play out. I try not to think about it.
Effie spoke until we had up here an Ivanna Tarla with Mark Young, an Addely Mavs with Joey Noble, Lilon Bee with Jake Rob, Mary Gold with Nate Dole, Amilia Ron with Jone Baker, Avery Kild with Gold Nite, Neon Halves with Dan Tade, Ava Hunt with Toby Tay, and last but not least Sparkle Gild and Toby Lone. I had never heard names like these.
As the ceremony closed down, we were taken to the all famous train that takes us deep into the city where the capitol dresses us up, trains us, and takes us to the arena. Far away from that stage that stage.
Far away from home.
