Tell me what you guys are thinking so far :) -Cat

I woke up to the very thought of getting that book running through my mind. That was my first priority this Saturday morning, and I was going to help heal my father.

"And where do you think you're going?" Lauren asked me as I neared the door. I cringed when I heard her voice from behind me. I thought she would sleep in like she always does on Saturday!
"Um....," I turned around slowly. I was thinking of a lie, but I knew that was the wrong thing to do. "Well, I'm picking something up from a friend is all," I said, not lying, but just not giving her all the details. She gave me a skeptical look, then surprisingly rolled her eyes and nodded, waving me off. "Yeah, sure whatever. Leave but don't die out there because dad is coming back today and he'd blame me for that."
"Okay, bye!" I nearly cheered, opening and closing the door as fast as I could before she changed her mind.

Judie had texted me her address last night, so I had a way of finding her house. Fortunately it's not too far from our house, so I can just walk. It will take some time, but it's better than having Lauren drive me then bother me about what I'm doing. I'm not telling anyone until it's done. I don't want the attention for this--just a simple miracle is all.
I shivered nervously as I knocked on her front door, trying to compose myself and calm down.
After a moment, I heard footsteps nearing the door, then it suddenly opened.
An woman who looked in her mid to late forties stood there with a small smile on her lips. She was thin, but healthy. She had short brown hair and green eyes. She was very beautiful.
"Hello," she greeted kindly. Her voice was smooth yet had a rasp to it.
"Hello, is Judie here?" I asked, assuming that this must be her aunt.
"Yes, I'll go get her," she said. "Come in."
She opened the door for me and I walked in, but I didn't go far. I just stood by the door awkwardly as I waited.

"Hey, here's the book," a girl a little older than me that I was assuming was Judie said as she approached me with that very book. It was dark brown, probably used to be black. The book looked so old that I was afraid it would wither away if I touched it. "Thank you," I said, gladly taking the book off of her hands. It was surprisingly light for how heavy it actually looked. "Um, why's it messed up on this side?" I asked out of curiosity as I looked at the side to see it was a little disformed. "I tried to burn it," she said bluntly. I was not expecting that answer. "Anyway, there you have it, now leave with it now please," she practically begged. "It um.....became a burden in storage."
"Oh, okay then. Thank you."
"You're welcome, good luck," she said, pushing me to the door.
"God bless," I said kindly as I stood outside.
Right as I said that, she closed her eyes and shuttered, then closed the door right after, leaving me to be confused. I hope she was alright.

I brought the book home and snuck it into my room without Lauren catching me. I actually couldn't find her anywhere, so I assumed she had gone to pick up dad along with some groceries.
"Alright, let's hope this works," I said to myself as I cleared my bedroom floor of any books that were sitting around. Usually my room is very clean so that wasn't a problem.
I took a deep breath, then set it down on my floor--me sitting cross-legged beside it.
I looked at the star on the front for a moment, before shaking my head and continuing on. I opened the book, the old paper creating a crinkling noise as I flipped through each page.
"I don't even know what to do," I muttered to myself as I continued to flip through the pages. They were all empty. Nothing was written on any of them. I couldn't believe this. Was this a scam? Yeah, I should have expected that. I'm so stupid and naïve sometimes!
"Wow, this stupid book can't help me after all."
I was about to close the book and call up Judie saying it didn't work, until I turned one more page to see text written across the yellowed paper.
