City of Millions

The city smells busy
cars zoom by
the cement feels cold
on my blistering feet
No one looks at me the same
if they even look at all
A small child's eyes wander to me
filled with fear and curiosity
Her tiny body steps up to me
hesitant but sure
but before she comes too close
her mother guides her away
I am a monster
I am invisible
She is out of sight now
And once again I feel alone
In this city of millions
