Myra walked into the green room fifteen minutes early, as usual. For some jobs, she knew that was weird, but for most performing arts, early meant on time and on time meant late. Most of the actors arrived five to ten minutes early, but Myra didn't see the point in waiting at home for an extra five minutes. Besides, it gave her buffer room for traffic.
Luckily, though, one off her best friends was waiting for her.
"My!" he exclaimed, throwing his arms up into jazz hands.
"Hey, Gabe," she said, plopping down on the couch next to him and dropping her bags.
"Riel," he added.
She looked at him blankly. "What?"
"Gabriel," he said with a raised eyebrow. "You know how I feel about Gabe."
Myra frowned. "I'm sorry, I...don't believe we've talked about this before."
He looked at her incredulously. "We literally talk about it every day."
She frowned deeper. "Wait, I'm sorry...have we met?"
He looked completely baffled until understanding dawned on his face. "Ooh." He rolled his eyes and smirked. "Our little actress showing off her skills again."
Myra grinned. "Gotta keep sharp." She elbowed him playfully.
She and Gabriel had been working together a while. One year ago, they were in a film together called Welcome to Hayworth as the main character's best friends. The review praised their chemistry so highly that they were almost immediately cast in The Club Wars as rival Robotics club leaders forced to combine forces that ended up falling for each other by the end of the film. They had been filming for about three months now, and Myra was sad it was almost over. They only had a few scenes left to film. Then she had a two week break before starting on No Second Chances. She sighed.
"Why the long face?" Gabriel asked, for once in his life sounding somewhat serious. His expression hardened. "Is that Dallas kid bothering you again?"
Myra winced, her usual reaction whenever Dallas was brought up. "No, thank goodness. I'm just sad we're almost done filming."
"I know!" Gabriel exclaimed. "This is a fun movie. And we got to mess around with robots." He grinned. "I'm going to miss Jerry especially."
Myra laughed. Gabriel had taken a habit to naming every single robot they used, which was a lot, as most of the film was centered around pranks involving robots. Jerry was a particularly memorable one that launched Frisbees, and had actually gone haywire on set and broken three lights.
She shifted her attention back to Gabriel. "So. Anything for you after this?"
"Yeah, actually," he said happily. "I just got signed onto some kids' movie as the older brother. Another one where the little kid finds a talking animal, chaos happens, hilarity ensues, yada yada. They said I looked scary, like an older brother." He chuckled. "It's probably because I'm Mexican."
Gabriel was a Hispanic boy with muscular limbs and curly brown hair. Myra couldn't really picture him as scary, but she wasn't a casting director.
"That's racist," she chided. "And besides, the only reason they would cast you because you were Hispanic is because the rest of the family is Hispanic."
"Yeah, yeah, I know," he said with a grin. "What about you? Anything exciting in the future?"
"Actually," she said with a smile, "my agent emailed me today. Action movie. It's called No Second Chances. I'm the younger sister. And you'll never guess who's starring."
