Chapter 3

Michele's POV
      I stand there dumbfounded as to how Nico got to my grandma's house and why he was there. I felt my face turning red as I stared at him. I advert my eyes to the ground blushing furiously. I don't know what's wrong with me. It's as if something is drawing me towards him. Some unnatural force bringing us together.  Nico shifts his weight and looks at random spots in the spacious room. He looks like he's debating on something.
    "A-are you ok?" I finally mange to stammer out. He stares at me for a minute before he says anything.
    "Yeah, I'm fine,"
"Okay," I walk away from him to go find my grandmother. I just can't get over the feeling if unease every time I step away from him. I find my grandmother sitting on the couch waiting for me.
   I sheepishly look at her not sure what to do. She pats the spot on the couch next to her motioning for me to sit down.
    "You're absolutely gorgeous.  I really wished you would've grown up here,  so I could teach you everything. "
"I'm sorry Gram. Its not like I had much of a choice, " I chuckle. Gram smiles at me. 
      We sat there for a while getting to know each other and discussing small things. By the time our friendly conversation ended it was time to eat.  My mom made a delicious baked chicken with mash potatoes and gravy. 
"Emma you certainly have gained some cooking skills during your leave."
     "Indeed I have mom.  I take pride in my kitchen ability now. " my mother laughs.  We continued eating and after everyone finished I took care of the dishes.  I was just drying and putting the dishes away when my mom walked up beside looking worried.

"What's wrong, mom?" I continue looking at her while she takes the rag and helps dry the dishes while I put them away.  she stood there silently for a moment before turning and looking at me.

"Michele, there's something I need to tell you. I know this is going to be hard for you to understand, but please know that I would never lie to you." She look scared by how I might react. I stood there patiently waiting for her to continue.  "Well you see, there is more to this word than just humans. There are also werewolves. I know this is going to be hard to believe but your dad and I, well, we're werewolves and so are you and your brother."  I tried not to laugh. I already knew what I was. I saw my parents shift one night when I was 9.

"I know, mom" she looked taken aback. "I saw you and dad shift one night," I explained. She let out a sigh of relief. "Oh thank Goddess! I thought you wouldn't believe me," I just smiled and shook my head.

"No mom. I already knew. Since I saw you and dad shift I did my own research and discovered what we were. I do have a few questions though that my research was not able to answer." my mom, relieved, gladly answered my questions. I asked her how old do I have to be before I am able to shift and she told me since I have alpha blood (she also told me that I am to be the next alpha which shocked me.) that I would be able to shift any day now. She also told me about mates and how Nico is my mate. After a while she gets up and pats my head. "Well I think that's enough for now kiddo. I'm going to go to bed I'll see you in the morning."

"Okay, goodnight mom,"

 "Goodnight sweetie," and with that my mother left the kitchen and headed to her room.  'How do I already have a mate?'  I think to myself as I lay my head on the table and close my eyes. Then, out of nowhere I get a skull splitting ache running from my spine all the way up my skull.  I scream as the pain engulfs me.  Grandma runs into the room panic flooding her face.

"What's wrong?" instead of answering her I scream yet again as a second shock of pain rolls through my body. Realization dawns on her face. "Oh my! you're shifting! Quick we need to get you outside," Grandma's eyes daze out and next thing I know I'm being lifted up and carried.  Then, I smell his sent. He smelled like cinnamon and chocolate. Wait.. how can I smell him? Another wave of pain hits me and I hear my bones start cracking. I am set down in the soft grass of the meadow behind my grandma's house. "Michele, you have to listen to me. I know this is painful, but it's necessary in order for you to become one with your wolf. This is going to hurt a lot, but the pain is worth it." Grandma tells me soothingly.  There's more cracking from my bones and I can feel them shift into place. Then, just as soon as it began the pain stopped. I opened my eyes and saw my grandmother and Nico looking down at me smiling.

"She's gorgeous, Alpha," at Nico's remark I try to stand up only to realize that I have to use four legs. Four legs? I finally mange to stand and look at myself. I am a wolf! A pure white wolf!

'No, dear. you are a human. I on the other hand, am your wolf. My name is Moonlight.' I jump at hearing my wolfs voice in my head. Moonlight chuckles in my head. 'I have been waiting so long for us to be able to shift into my form' she say. 'And don't worry we are best friends. I am you and you are me. if one of us dies so does the other.' Moonlight explains to me. I slowly look around taking in my surroundings. Everything is so much brighter even through it's the middle of the night. 'Ah yes, you see now that we've finally shifted your human eyes, nose, and ears will have the sensibility of that of a wolf. Your strength and speed will also be greater than that of a humans.'  Moonlight explains the basics of being a werewolf to me when all of a sudden I catch his sent. Who is that? 'That would be our mate Lucius. Oh sorry that's his wolf our mate is Nico.'  I look back to the last place I saw him and in his place I saw a big black wolf. I'm assuming that's Lucius? 'You assume correctly. Isn't he handsome?' Indeed, so is his human form. 'Damn, we have a hottie for a mate!' Moonlight! 'What? you know it's true.'  I ignore my wolf and slowly approach Nico. He does something I did not expect. He approached me and licked my muzzle. I growled at him out of shock and he lowered down the front half of his big body so that his chest was on the ground. He laid his ears down and wined submissively. Why is our mate submissive to us? 'Because you are the next Alpha until we mate. Then, you will be Luna.' Oh.

I walked up to him and licked his ears playfully. Nico jumped up and nuzzled me. I stood there relishing in his sent. He smells sooo good. 'Who's having dirty thoughts now?' my wolf chuckled. They are not dirty! all I said was that he smells good. I replied defensively. Moonlight remained silent. It wasn't till my grandma came back that we finally pulled apart.

"Okay, now shifting back is less painful, but a little more difficult. You have to imagine yourself in your human form." I did  as my grandmother instructed and pictured myself standing on my own two feet in the meadow. When I opened my eyes I realized I was naked! my face heated up as I tried to cover myself the best I could. Now don't get me wrong I love my body, but being naked as the day your were born in front of your grandma is quiet uncomfortable. Grandma chuckled and shook her head as she threw a towel at me so I could cover myself. "Don't worry you'll get used to it. Everyone shifts back naked and to avoid tearing our clothes to shreds we take them off before we shift, so seeing pack members naked is normal. Oh, don't worry about perverts because everyone either already has a mate or is too young to be pervy." she tells me with a sweet smile.

"Oh, thanks Gram."

"Now, I think it's about time you and Nico get some rest. It's already 4 am." My eyes go big at the mention of Nico. Then, I hear him laughing.

"No, don't worry I didn't see you shift back. Alpha would kill me if I tried." he joked. I let out a sigh of relief. I bid them goodnight and headed back to the house. I changed into my pajamas and laid in bed waiting for sleep. Waiting for the next adventure my life has in store for me.
