Nine months had passed since I first witnessed Harry, and seven since we first talked. He asked me to be his girlfriend five months after we met.
He claimed I was annoying for the longest time, saying I talked too much and forgot to take into account that he was deaf. Whatever, I think he just likes to get under my skin.
Anyways, it had been five months since he first announced that he needed hearing aids. Me, being the young lady with an extremely well paying job, decided to save up all of my money just for him.
I decided to surprise him, after all, it was his birthday today.
"Hello Lia." the robot voice says, making me turn around. I had been waiting for him for nearly twenty minutes.
"You're late, Curly." I sign, pouting.
"I'm sorry." He pouts, opening his arms for a hug. I accept his hug, holding onto him tightly until he practically pries my off.
"Let's eat." He laughs awkwardly, voice still sounding a little quiet. I guess he didn't want to be too loud.
We sat in our booth, ordered our food, and sat in our usual silence until the food arrived. It was our time to collect ourselves and think about our day.
"I have a surprise for you, Harry." I sign, biting my lip. He looks at me, raising his eyebrows.
I grab the bag with the hearing aids, sliding it towards him. "You're probably wondering what was in the bag."
He nods, opening the bag. Once he sees what is inside, his face lights up. And I must say, it brings a wonderful feeling to my stomach.
"Oh, my god." he furiously types on his phone, the robot speaking to me. "Thank you so much." he signs, getting up from the seat and hugging me tightly. So tightly I think I might die.
He eventually pulls away, the biggest smile on his face. He tries them on, crossing his fingers and nodding towards me.
"I love you." I say, biting my lip.
His face falls, his mouth parting. And for a moment, I think he's going to cry.
"I love you, too."
