Was it even possible for my second day to be worse than the first?
.... I think so.
Early this morning, I was given a long set of chores to complete and so the real work began. My first task was to do the laundry. Apparently, the sheets on the beds for each chamber had to be washed every three days, so surely, in less than a month, I'd have disgustingly, wrinkly fingers.
"Oh, great," I mumbled to myself as I glanced at my perfectly soft hands.
Next, I slipped on my shoes and headed out the door. If only the royals knew how long my family went without washing our sheets... That was if we even had them.
Eventually finding my way to the laundry-room, I also found the other maids. They were nearly finished and I wondered how early they'd woken up. Was it like this everyday? Was there a day where you could 'sleep-in' or something of that sort?
"Hello," I said with a bright smile.
The three maids that were in the room quickly gathered their things before exiting.
"Or not," I mumbled to myself.
It wasn't a surprise that they weren't talking to me. They probably didn't want to associate with a trouble maker like me, after what happened at dinner last night of course.
I took a deep breath before starting on what I came here to do.
Thankfully, the laundry didn't take too long to wash and after hanging them up to dry, I went on to my next task.
I hummed a light tune as I walked out of the laundry room. Sure I didn't have any friends, and I didn't want to be here, and I had to spend my entire life as a maid, but at least it was a pretty day outside.
I continued to walk as I stared out of one of the massive windows.
It was October already and I could just imagine how lovely the cool, autumn breezes felt on your skin. I closed my eyes for a second, just picturing it. I spun freely to the tune of my hum with a blissful smile on my face, until I was interrupted by a sudden thought.
I stopped spinning and after a few seconds of contemplating what was wrong, I opened my eyes in complete terror.
I was supposed to report to breakfast, DIRECTLY after I finished the laundry.
I rushed down the hall, until I realized the Dining Hall was in a completely different direction in which I was going.
I turned around and ran back up the hallway but as I rounded the corner, I collided into something.
"Ugh," I grunted after landing on the floor. What idiot was in as much of a rush as I was?
Looking up, my eyes nearly bulged out of my head as I saw who the other person was.
Prince Alexander...
I froze completely, unable to apologize, or help him up, or even do anything for that matter. Everything flew out of the window as I realized what he would do to me since I knocked him over.
"Ah," he grunted, eventually standing up.
"I am so, so sorry," I started ranting, finally finding my words. "I wasn't looking where I was going and I'm in such a rush to get to the Dining Hall, because I was doing laundry and I don't know where I'm going," I let out.
Next, I flinched, closing my eyes just as he walked over to me. "Please don't."
"Please don't what?" He asked softly.
