During her fifth grade, she won as 1st Runner-up in Ms. Intramurals 2011. It was also the time gossips about her began. What hurts the most, the one who started to spread gossips about Mariel was one of her newest friends. The person said that Mariel's voice, whenever she's singing was fake. Of course, Mariel knew it wasn't real. She believes her voice is real and it's a gift God has given her. The rumors stopped after a few days. Mariel proved to everyone her voice isn't fake by having her first ever concert at The Music Museum sponsored by Center For Pop. Mariel thought it was over. Again, she was wrong.
Sixth grade, the final chapter of her grade school life. The early and mid-parts of sixth grade were fun for Mariel. But the struggle to find true friends were a challenge, but during those times, Mariel focused more on her studies. Until a singing competition requires her to join. She won as the Grand Winner of the competition. Because of that, the rumors about her voice were alive once again. Others claimed her voice isn't real and the voice heard from the mic or sound system were only the voice of someone in the CD. But she ignored it. Because she know the truth, and that matters the most.
