"They call her Summer because they only miss her when she's gone."

The screeching sound of my alarm clock and the light streaming through my windows woke me up on Tuesday. I lay there for another two minutes before slowly making my way out of bed.

I shivered in my night shirt before shutting the door to my bathroom. The floorboards beneath my feet creaked as I turned on the shower and undressed. When the room started to steam up, I jumped in and relished in the warmth.

After washing everything I turned off the shower and grabbed my towel. I wrapped around my body while walking to my bedroom. I quickly changed into matching underwear and bra then made my way to the closet.

Pulling on a navy blue blouse and black pencil skirt I raced to the kitchen to grab some toast. I grab my keys, purse, and black pumps. I check my phone while in the elevator to see I'm running five minutes behind. "Great." I mutter under my breath. The bell on the elevator rings right as I finish putting on my pumps. I race to my car and slide in.

On my way to work I hit all the green lights-Thank God. I was about to park my car when an asshole cuts me off. I honk and mutter some curses under my breath before going through the parking lot again.

After parking I finally make it inside to see I'm only two minutes late. "Hello," says the elderly secretary. "My name's Joanne, you must be the new PA?" She asks in a sweet voice.

"Yes. Am I too late?" I ask worriedly.

"Oh no." she says laughing. "Mr. Porter isn't even here yet.

I sigh in relief. "Thank you."

Smiling I turn to sit down when she says, "Speak of the devil. Good morning Mr. Porter."

He grunts before replying. "Yes. Hello Mrs. Payne. Is my new PA arrived yet?"

I cough awkwardly, hoping to catch his attention. My attempt comes to no avail.

Joanne rolls her eyes before saying, "Right behind you, Mr. Porter."

In less then five seconds I come face-to-face with the most stunning man in I've ever seen. His cerulean eyes bore into me. He looks down his perfect nose to my 5'6" stature. I knew I couldn't be classified as tall, but this man was huge. At least 6'3"!

You could see his muscles through his suit. And-my dreaming was cut short when Mr. Porter coughed, "Are you done Ms...?"

I blushed bright red. "Jefferson." I squeak. "Summer Jefferson. Sorry"

"Follow me." He says before turning in his heel and walking away. I think I heard Joanne say something about good luck, but I was too far away.

When we get to his office he immediately sits in his chair and stares at me. I stand awkwardly until he asks, "Are you going to stand there forever, or are you going to take a seat?"

Quickly, I sit in one of his leather seats. I don't have a chance to review my surroundings before he starts asking me questions.

"So, Ms. Jefferson, where did you go to college?"

"UCDavis." I state nervously.

"Good." He mutters before asking more, "How old are you?"

"I'm twenty-five." I sit for a few seconds before asking. "Isn't this all on my resume, sir?"

He shifts in his seat before replying. "Yes, but I want to double-check. Now, what are your fears?"

Millions of memories race through my head before I reply. "What does that have to do with this job?"

"I want to make sure there's nothing to get in the way." He states matter-of-factly.

"None of my fears have anything to do with this job.. trust me." I smile.

"Good." He look me in the eyes before saying, "Go get me a coffee. Two sugars and no creamer."

I smile. What an ass.
