"I think I'm just afraid to be happy. Any time I become too happy, something bad always happens."

Summer POV
"Shit." I said for the hundredth time today.
"Hey, Summer." He said, smiling. As if nothing had ever happened between us. "How've you been."
I glared at him. "Really, Eli? You're gonna play that card? The 'I never tore apart your heart and left you to rot' card."
"Summer, I thought you were over that?"
I lifted myself out of the hot tub. Turning around, I grabbed a towel and headed to the girls locker room.
"This isn't over Summer. I'll be back. I promise"
I give him the finger as I pushed through the locker door. I saunter over to my bag, taking as long as I can to change.
After changing into pants and a shirt, I grabbed my keys and headed to my car. I was about to open the door when my left arm was grasped tightly and my chest was pushed into my car.
"Sweetheart, I told you this wasn't over."
Breathing in as deep as possible I muttered, "Get off of me Eli."
"You can't get rid of me that easy, Sum."
"Like you did to me? You cheated on me, now you're asking for me back? Hell no. Let me go." I spoke roughly, annunciating my last words. I try to shake loose of his grip, but to no avail.
He grabbed the back of my hair and pressed my face into the car. I felt bruises beginning to form on my cheek and arms. His tone of voice was starting to scare me and my cheek was throbbing.
"I told you that it was a mistake, baby. I love you. I have always loved you. She meant nothing to me." His tone began to soften in a chilling way. Tightening his grip on my hair, he tugged my head backward. He bit my ear, "You will always be mine."
My eyes began to well up, "Please. Just let me go Eli."
He slammed my face in the car twice while yelling, "No! You are mine!"
He threw me onto the ground and was about to slap me when a buff guy came running out of the building. "Hey! What's going on out here?"
By the time the man made it to me, Eli was gone. My vision had begun to blur from how hard my head hit the ground.
"Okay. Oh god. Stay awake, please. Shit. No, no, no. Please don't close your eyes." The guy continued rambling as my world faded to darkness.

Summer POV
Lights. That was the first thing that came to mind. Too many damn lights. My head was pounding and my throat hurt. Slowly, I began to open my right eye. After that one was open, I opened my left one. Immediately, I regretted both decisions. My eyes were extremely dry and hurt to open.
A hospital. I was in a bloody hospital.
"Oh thank God you're awake." I jumped when I heard a deep voice. Turning my head to the right I saw Mr. Porter.
I tried to reply but ended up just coughing because of my dry throat. Quickly, he reached out to hand me a small cup of water. I drowned it in seconds.
"You nearly gave me a heart attack." I said, sternly. I placed my hand on my chest and felt my heart beating rapidly.
He mock glared at me before replying, "Well, sorry I stayed here for a night just to scare you."
"A night? I've been out for a whole night? Damn."
He rolled his eyes, "Yes. So what happened."
"Just got a little banged up. I'm pretty clumsy as you know." I laughed dryly.
He stared at me for a few seconds before continuing on.
