Dudley was sitting on the couch when an owl knocked on the window of his apartment. He hasn't seen an owl deliver him a letter in years and years and years. He ran his hand through his short hair and wiped the sweat off his forehead. He opened the window and took the letter from the snowy white owl. It flew away, as Dudley fell back into the couch and opened the letter addressed directly to him.
Dudley Dursley looked at the letter written in black ink. Some words were smudged and there were wet dots on the piece of parchment. He started reading the curved words.

Dear Uncle,

I know you haven't heard from us in a long time, but we were very busy. I hope you didn't mind.
We do not know how to tell you the news... We are all extremely saddened by the situation.
It is a very hard thing to tell so I'll get over it.
Yesterday evening, our mother sent us an owl and broke the news to us.
Dad died.

Dudley's heart stopped for a second. He brushed his hand through his grey hair and wiped the sweat off of his wrinkled forehead. A tear ran down his cheek and fell onto the parchment, making another blob of smudged words. Harry couldn't have died. He couldn't! This was a joke!
He tried to scream out his anger, but only a weak shout came out. Dudley continued reading.

He died in his sleep. He fell asleep, looking at mum, but never woke up. His heart stopped and there was nothing the Healers could do. Mum said he deserved to finally go back to his parents and friends, but she was still devastated. Dad went through so much. He defeated the Dark Lord, raised us and was a great Auror.
His funeral will be held in three days, on the 2nd of May at 4pm at Godric's Hollow.
I do hope you can come and say something about dad. It would mean a lot to him and us.
I'm very sorry I couldn't tell you about this personally.

Sincerely,
Albus Severus Potter

Harry was gone. This was the end.
