"Elle, are you done? You know how much I hate shopping." my best friend, Yi Xing, asked, agitated.

"You asked me to come so be patient. I'm done anyway." I replied back, stepping out of the dressing room.

Zhang Yi Xing & I have been the best of friends since I moved from California to China when I was 5. He was there for me when I first got bullied and has been there for me ever since.

We left the department store and headed for the food court. Now I knew something was wrong when we walked towards the food court but grabbed no food.

"Ok, what's wrong? You never wanna go shopping with me & you never go to a food court without buying food." I questioned.

I hadn't realized it before but he had a certain sadness in his eyes, like he had something to tell me but he knew it would hurt me.

"You know how I told you about that audition?" he asked.

I nodded.

"I got in."

"Really? That's awesome. I'm proud of you."

He smiled but for a split second. I wondered he looked so sad if everything he had ever worked for finally paid off.

"What's the real problem then?"

"It's SM Entertainment," he paused, "in Korea."

I felt my eyes water and before I knew it tears began to roll down my face.

"When do you leave?"

"Tomorrow."

"How long have you known, Yi Xing?"

"3 months."

For 3 months he had known that he was going to leave. What I don't get is why he didn't tell me as soon as he heard.

"Why now? Why a day before you go?" I asked, more tears flowing down my face.

"I didn't know when to tell you. This just felt ... right."

I couldn't take it anymore. I got up from my chair and ran outside. Reaching the exit, I fell to my knees, trying to make sure this wasn't a dream. I wiped my tears and looked at my hands. This was real. this wasn't a dream. My best friend of 12 years made his dream come true and was leaving me behind. I know I'm meant to be happy but I felt my heart just breaking.

I felt a hand grab my arm and help me up. I turned to thank the person but was suddenly pulled into a hug.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you sooner, Elle."

I wanted to pull myself away from his embrace but my head found its way leaning against his chest, hearing his heart beat pick up a little faster. I closed my eyes and lightly tapped my fingers to the beat of his heart.

We let go of each other and let out a little laugh before heading home.

Yi Xing walked me to my door.

"My flight leaves at 12:30pm tomorrow."

"You know I'll be there."

"Just double checking."

"No need to. You are not leaving until I come, got it?" I said with a smirk.

He just laughed as always.

"I'll see you tomorrow then, Flubber." he said, running away knowing I would hit him for calling me that.

"I'll get you back, Chubba." I yelled at him.

I walked into my house and up to my room. Dumling all my shopping bags on the floor, I flopped unto my bed and fell asleep.
