Chapter Two ~ Family Time

Elena's POV:

I finish up packing everything I need, in order to leave for college tomorrow.

Mom and Dad went to the grocery store to get some stuff for tonight's dinner, Jeremy is hanging out with one of his friends, and Katherine is still not back yet, I don't know what's taking her so long, maybe she got caught up with something or...

Just then I hear the door slam downstairs.

"Elena! I'm home" I hear someone yell.

I rush down the stairs and go into the kitchen where Katherine is standing.

"Where have you been?" I ask, crossing my arms.

She hesitates for a second then says, "Your boyfriend took forever to come out of that damn bathroom, told him your message and then I stopped to get gas. Why are you flipping out?"

I put my hand on my forehead, "I don't know, I think it's the stress of leaving tomorrow."

Katherine comes over and hugs me, "Don't worry sis, we're going to get through this together. Whitmore won't know what hit'em." She lets out a little laugh as she pulls away.

I smile.

"So, have you finally finished packing?" She asks.

I nod.

"Finally. Typical Elena, leaving everything for the last minute." She laughs.

"Hey!" I hit her playfully on her arm. "I had other things on my mind."

"Like Damon?" She raises an eyebrow. "'Damon, my sweet Damon. How could I possibly survive college without you.'" She says mocking me.

"You're not funny." I smile.

"I so am." She smiles, "Now, where's my little bro at? Don't tell me he's with Vicki."

"I don't know, Mom said he was out with a friend. But, we both know that's not true." I explain.

"Typical Jer." She sighs.

"So, what's going on with you and Damon?" She asks.

"What do you mean?" I ask.

"I mean, we go to college tomorrow, there's going to be plenty of hot college guys. Are you sure you'll be able to keep yourself at bay?" She raises an eyebrow.

"Nothing's going to happen, I love Damon. I would never do that to him." I explain.

She looks at me for a second with no expression on her face.

"That means more hot guys for me."

We both laugh, until we get cut off by another door slam.

We both look at each other in confusion, until she enters the room.

"What? I haven't seen you guys in 2 months, and your not even gonna give your favourite aunt a hug?" She says with a smile on her face.

"Aunt Jenna!" Katherine and I both say in unison, as we run over and hug her.

"Hey girls, it's nice to see you." Jenna says as we pull away from each other.

"Nice to see you too Aunt Jenna." I say.

"Yeah, it's been too long." Katherine finishes.

"It has." Jenna continues as she puts her purse on the table.

"So tell me girls, what have I missed?" Aunt Jenna asks.

"Not much really." Katherine says.

"Yeah, not much." I continue

"Wow, you two are the most boring twins I have ever met." Jenna jokes.

Katherine and I laugh.

"Fine, I'll ask about something else than." She says as she sits down on the stool. "How's the boyfriend, Elena?"

"Good." I respond.

"Good? That's all I get? Come on! Do I look like your parents?" Aunt Jenna continues, while Katherine sits there silently eating the chips that Mom had set out on the table.

I laugh, "What do you want me to say?"

"How did he take you telling him that you're leaving tomorrow?" Jenna asks.

"Surprisingly well, actually." I respond.

"Well?" Aunt Jenna raises an eyebrow.

"Yeah." I finish.

"Interesting. Anyway, Katherine how about you? Any recent boyfriends I should know about?" Jenna turns her attention towards Katherine.

"Nope, none." Katherine quickly responds.

"Wow, you two really need me around to spice up your life. Cause right now, you two are even boring me." Jenna laughs.

"I tried to convince Mom and Dad to let you move in!" Katherine yells.

I laugh, "She did."

We all laugh.

"Speaking of my sister and brother in-law, where are they?" Jenna asks.

"We're here." Two voices call out from behind us.

I turn to see my Mom and Dad, along with Jeremy standing behind us.

"Hi Mom." I give her a hug.

"Hi Lena." She gives me a kiss on the cheek, same with Katherine.

"How's my two beautiful daughters?" Dad asks us.

"We're good Dad." Katherine responds as he kisses her forehead.

Mom and Aunt Jenna hug.

Jeremy, Katherine and I begin to talk, then Mom asks us to go get washed up for dinner.

We do as we're told and come down to a table full of food and drinks.

"This is it." Katherine says. "Our last good meal."

I laugh, and we go to take our seats.
