Nick's POV

Grace and I had been getting along great. We spent as much time as we good together between school and sporting commitments. It was almost as though things were too good to be true.

"Nick, do you want to come to the shops with me? You can get something while we are there," My mother asked me adding a hint of bribery, knowing that I wouldn't be keen to go to the shops. I contemplated the trip for a moment and thought of something I would be able to purchase while we were there,

"Sure, Mum. I want to get something for Grace to show her how much I love her," My mother smiled at my words before nodding, showing her acceptance of the fact that I was going with her. My vision went black as I stood up, making me realise that I had gotten up too quickly. I felt nauseous and let the feeling pass before I walked towards the door. My mother followed me before locking the house and heading towards the car. I hopped inside the blue vehicle and put my seatbelt on, making me feel constricted around my chest. We pulled out of the driveway and started our journey.

On the trip I realised how great of a driver my mother is. The way that she makes the car glide smoothly along the road at the perfect speed. It felt like the car was floating on air. My thoughts had distracted me so immensely that I didn't realise my phone was ringing. I looked at the caller id and instantly smiled; Grace. My finger touched the screen to accept the call,

"Hey, beautiful," I spoke into the phone, knowing that my words would cause Grace to smile. A soft giggle consumed my hearing, making my smile grow larger,

"Hey, Nick. I just thought I would call to see how you are going," Grace's beautiful voice made me calm. I thought of how far our relationship had come since the day we ran into each other at the shop. It truly was magical, too good to be true,

"I'm great actually. I'm just heading to the shops now with my mum. Do you maybe want to catch up later?" The car had stopped at a set of traffic lights. We were at a cross section, waiting for the green light to let us know we could drive,

"Sure, that'd be great," I smiled at Grace's response. Now I had to think up a cute date for us to have later on today. The red light turned to green and my mother started to drive. We were nearly at the shops,

"Okay, I'll see you then. I lo-," Suddenly my side felt like it was getting pierced by something. A huge object had collided with the side of our car. We were spinning in the air, slowly hitting the ground before bouncing back up again. The collision had made my body ache all over and with the last thud that made our car stop moving, I passed out into a state of nothingness.

Grace's POV

My heart shredded into a million tiny pieces. I didn't have the strength to move the phone away from my ear, letting each sound make me flinch,

"Mum, we have to go to the hospital right now. Nick has just been in a car accident with his mum. We have to go right now!" I screamed at my mother before realising that the phone still hadn't hung up. I didn't know what to say but I knew it was worth a try to see if Nick was still conscious,

"Nick, are you alright? Nick? Nick!" The pointless yelling into the phone made me break down onto the floor. My mother rushed into the room and picked me up from my position. She guided me outside into the car before we made our way to the hospital.

The car trip felt like it went on for years on end. My thoughts were consuming my being. What if Nick had died? What if he loses his memory? What if he can never walk again? What if I never get to talk to him again? What if I lose the love of my life after we just got together? My thoughts were silenced as we pulled into the hospital driveway. I leaped out of the car before it even had the opportunity to stop. Sprinting through the doors, my eyes darted around the hospital to locate the reception. I could smell the hygienic cleanliness of the hospital and it was extremely unsettling. People wearing white were so focused on their jobs that they didn't notice me sprinting through the room. As my eyes found the reception, I picked up my pace to get there,

"Hello, I need to find Nick. He was just in a car accident and to my beliefs should've been admitted not very long ago," The brunette lady working at the reception clicked the mouse of the computer, searching to see if she could find the name Nick anywhere,

"Nick Campbell?" The thought that Nick had already been admitted gave me reassurance that he could be okay. I nodded my head vigorously before the lady's eyes flicked to the screen again,

"He is in room 305," Before I had the time to thank the lady, my legs were already carrying me to find Nick. I raced through the lengthy, narrow hallways, brushing past people along the way until I finally found room 305. My body froze. Did I really want to open this door to reveal a limp and damaged Nick? Feelings of love overpowered fear and I built up the courage to open the door.

The glare from the pure whiteness of the room blurred my vision for a second before my eyes adjusted. The room was quite small but cozy and had a smell of discomfort and unease. There were three seats lined up against one of the walls near machines that were all making their own individual and unique sounds. My eyes didn't want to look at the bed that I knew Nick would be lying in although my heart wanted me to. My gaze fell upon a bed that had a white sheet on it and sure enough lying underneath the cold and fragile sheet was Nick.

I felt weak just at the sight of him. His eyes were shut and for a moment I thought he was dead but the heart monitor had a steady beep to it, reflecting Nick's heartbeat. I took a seat next to his bed and took his hand in both of mine. Thank God that Nick was okay. I didn't know what would happen to me if he wasn't. Although, was Nick's mother alright? I quickly stood up and found the closest nurse possible.
