Plague

Illness

        Today was like any other day in my life. Wake up, get dressed, eat, go to school, eat, homework, bed... repeat repeat repeat. I just wish life had a little more spice. Its so boring, my mom was boring my dad was boring. My life was a basic white collar family sitcom.
   The next few days at school people had been talking about this rumor going around that people are getting really sick in DC and there dying. "What could they be getting sick with thats making them all die"? I think to myself. "Its just a stupid rumor". said Jessica, she thinks she knows everything because her mom used to be the major for our town. I chose not to respond, and go on with my day. By the time I get home that evening my brother was on the phone with his friends talking about the rumor to. As soon as he hangs up I ask him "do you think that rumor is true"? He looked at me, "Don't worry even if it is were safe down here in Texas. Plus there checking before anyone leaves the state to make sure there okay". He looked at me and smiled. "Just go upstairs and relax. I'll let you know when mom gets home". After that I took off to my room to do homework. A few hours and 2 episodes of shark tank later I get a text from chase saying "moms home". It was almost 8 she was never gone this late before. "Emma, can you please come down for a moment". My mother calls up the stairs. I pause the episode and go downstairs, "whats up mo-" I stop talking to see everyone on the couch dad included which was insanely rare. I take a seat next to little Lucy and put her on my lap. I've heard at work all the rumors that have been spreading about DC and in my job I can't discuss work things and all of you know that". We all nod, me and Lucy in unison. "Well i'm breaking the law by telling you that the rumors are true. We need to be careful with germs, the cause has not been found but its said to be an infection virus." I looked around, Lucy being only 7 she didn't really get what was going on but Mom, Dad and Chase were all in a form of Shock. "Its all the way in DC guys, I'm sure we'll be fine." i say trying to lighten the mood. Mom nodded "it has also not been in the news so i'm sure they have it quarantined." I smiled "See it wont be a problem were fine. Now can you feed your children I for one am hungry." We all had a good laugh and mom went to the kitchen to make dinner while dad entertained Lucy.
