It was the last day before Luke was to arrive. I had to prepare myself for it. I had already, I knew what I was going to say. I thought about it all day at work, all the way home, all the way to Koda's house to meet with her, Wes, and Drew. We were all going to have a celebration for her since she moved up in rank at her department.

When we got there, there were a few police cars outside, and a Rav4 that I think was another one of her friend's, and of course Drew's silver Charger. Keaton and I came up in his Jeep and parked by the road. We walked hand in hand to the door.

Drew greeted us with a warm smile. The house smelled delicious; like cold cuts and cleanliness and faintly burgers. The smell drifted throughout occasionally. There was music playing from the living room and also quietly in the den. As we walked through, we were met with three officers, and another woman. Everyone was laughing, Coke in their hands and having a good time. Keaton stopped to talk with Wesley, while I went to look for Koda. She almost smacked me with the backdoor as she came in.

"Woah, I'm sorry Braina." She said. Her hair was now a pretty shade of dark brown \ black. And wasn't teased as much- just naturally wavy. She wore her black skinny jeans, her Creepers, and a heartagram tank.

"It's good." I said. She was carrying am empty tray that once housed raw meet, and was now cleaning it off.

"Where's Keaton?" She asked.

"In the dining room with Wes." I said, to which she nodded.

The night was smooth and sweet. A few more cops showed up, some other coworkers, and her neighbor popped in to congratulate her. We ate hamburgers and hot dogs and had little toothpick sandwiches and vegetable and fruit trays to eat. We sat outside as the sun set with tiki torches with their low fires around her fire pit in comfortable zero gravity chairs and some swings. We talked about our lives and laughed and enjoyed company for a day. It was a nice reprieve from the hectic mess in my head.

Everyone left except Wesley and Drew, who were both living there. We said our byes to them and Skins and Marius before heading out ourselves.

On the ride home, I kept trying to hold on to the feeling of happiness I got from today. It kept me occupied and kept me from thinking about my issue. As if knowing, Keaton reached over and grabbed my hand, smiling at me. "It'll be okay, I promise."

We made it home at nearly eleven that night. I took a shower with Keaton then laid down for bed.

Only a few more hours. Only a few.
