I'd like to introduce you to a family of six. We have Haley, Peter, Cedric and Harvey. They all were raised in the same way and all ended up getting accepted into Hogwarts.

But why is each one in a separate house?

Well, let me describe what happened up on that stool in

123... Haley's Sorting!

"Haley Williams!" The teacher standing next to the stool called out. I immediately blushed and walked quickly to the front. I sat on the stool and felt the mysterious hat slip on my head.

I have no idea what any of the houses are! I mean, I need an in depth evaluation of what each ones about!

"Oh, don't have a clear idear of the four? Either way I'd still be the one choosing miss Williams." I heard a voice, causing me to jump slightly.

I thought for a second before muttering back, "Is it that hat I put on?"

"Yes, dear, you are very bright! Maybe Ravenclaw is good for you, eh?"

"Why would you say that?" I mutter back again.

"And from the looks of things you enjoy learning and strive to achieve your best. Skipped two grade have you? Raven laws always strive to complete their goals. Take it as a complement when I put you into RAVENCLAW!"

I could tell everyone else heard the conclusion since a round of applause went up. I pulled the hat off before smiling slightly and trotting over to the house I had recognised as Ravenclaw. I'd noted with table was which while I'd waited.

456... Peters Sorting!

"Peter Williams!" The harsh green clothes woman called out. I was one of the only people left to be sorted and happy that I wasn't last.

I walked up to the podium, only thought in my mind was that I wanted to be in Gryffindor, with my friend Charlie Weasley.

I sat and the hat was placed on my head.

Gryffindor! Gryffindor! Gryffindor! I was thinking. Charlie told me on the train that when his brother was sorted the hat decided what house you belonged to. Maybe if I think about my choice it'll put me into the house I want!

"Really, Gryffindor? Well, since your brave enough to ask I'll have to put you in GRYFFINDOR!"

I grinned and practically ran to the screaming table. I sat to the left of my small friend and smiled, maybe it was all just a choice.

789... Cedric's Sorting!

"Cedric Williams." The stupid woman called out. Why did I even have to be here? My brother had already abandoned me last year and again after the train. He always lies to me. He said he would stay with me!

I walked slowly to the front and sat, frowning. Maybe I'd get sorted into a house that's good at sports! I'm the top basketball player in my school!

I hear a chuckle in my head. "Well well well, I see your good at sport? And like your sister your good at school work, and you managed to guilt your brother into playing with you all summer eh? Well, I think you'll strive in SLYTHERIN!"

I smirk as I head to the cheering group of teens. A new house just for me... Yay.

And Finally... Harley Williams everybody!

"Harley Williams." The woman called. I was so embarrassed, I'm the last person to be sorted!

I rush to the front and sit on the stool. I sit in silence as hat hat covers my eyes. I can feel everyone staring at me and it makes me anxious.

"Well well, another Williams I see! Have any ideas on where you wanna be?" I hear q voice ask. From what my siblings have said I knew it was the hat.

"Not particularly, wherever you think I'll fit." I whisper to it.

"Oh, well then let me have a look. You have three friends- ah, they're all Muggles. Sorry you had to leave them behind. I think that you'll do well in Hufflepuff, from your memories I can deduct your very loyal to your friends. I'm sure now, your a HUFFLEPUFF!"

I stand and blush as everyone cheers. I walk towards the table and sit, happy I belonged somewhere.

So, from these tales can you deduct what truly decides your house? No? Because I'm certain that..

Ravenclaws have to display some sort of wit or quick thinking while conversing mentally with the hat. Most work out on their own the hats speaking to them without being told, but a few are original. Luna Lovegood, for example, started talking to the hat before it spoke to her to ask if it could detect any Nargles in her head. The hat put her in Ravenclaw since she seemed to know a lot about magic already.

Gruffindors, I truly believe have to ask to be in the house. This house represents bravery so each member has to ask to be in the house, bravely asking for their way to the hat. The hat has also been known to put people who ask for other houses into Gryffindor, since they had the courage to speak up. An example of this is Neville Longbottom, who asked to be placed in Hufflepuff. He was brave enough to ask, so he was put into the house associated with bravery.

To be in Slytherin you have to be thinking about a certain talent of yours, since that is a house which talent is associated with. It doesn't matter what talent, or why your thinking of it, just as long as you think of it. An example of his would be Draco Malfoys own sorting; in which he was thinking about going his house team as he already knew how to play, and was sure he was good enough to bend the rule excluding first years.

Finally we have Hufflepuff. To be accepted by this house you need to have no preference whatsoever about which house you want in on. You need to be willing to accept that you belong wherever the hat puts you. This trust is part of Hufflepuffs characteristics and makes you perfect for the house. Cedric Digory himself had no idea where he belonged as well as no preference to which house.

An: I would like to say that I came up with the reasoning on my own and I own the idea. I don't know the accuracy.

If you have anything you want me to write about just comment it bellow.
