A Surprising Summer

Summer, oh how i despise it.

You would see summer as the most lively season of the year, with the blazing heat, cold beverages, tanning bodies on the beach, ice cream, outdoors activities but how i see it is summer is the season where bodies are shown too much, no self respect is shown, overly priced drinks, sweat dripping down your forehead and the list goes on.

You would pin me as the most boring species ever to land on this earth however i would like to call myself different from the rest because why be the society's expectation when you could be your comfortable self, right?

Today was the last day of me being a senior in high school and i will soon be going to college. Sigh.

My life has been consistent for the past 4 years; Wake up, Go to school, Come home from school, Study, Eat, Shower, Sleep. Now that i look back at that timetable, i cringe very badly.

I glanced at myself in my long-view mirror and looked at how much i have changed and how mature i look as of right now in my reasonable length dress and graduation outfit.

I grabbed my car keys (which was accompanied with my adorable Olaf keychain) and headed downstairs but before i do, i went into my 4 year old sister's bedroom and placed a kiss on her forehead. As i was about to walk out of her disney themed bedroom, she whispers;

"I will be there for your graduation Ena, i promise" and with that i turned around to her small body and gave her a huge bear hug.

"Let's go downstairs Bella so you can have some breakfast"

I carried her minuscule body down the stairs and i was accompanied with the smell of pancakes which my Auntie Em has kindly made for us before she headed off to work. I placed Bella on the bar-stool on our breakfast bar and served her some pancakes with chocolate syrup.

A faint thank you was said from her.

I went across the kitchen to the notice board and i saw a note placed on there from my Aunt;

Athena,

I have made your favourite, Pancakes! I can't believe that you are actually graduating, i am so proud of you. Mum and Dad would have been proud of you sweetie.

My heart winced at the thought of my parents but then i read on;

I will be attending your ceremony hopefully on time but i had to get to the florist on time for some deliveries that should come. Please could you drop Bella off next door to Mrs. Smith's house just before you go to school? Thank you. I will be picking her up just before you ceremony.

I put down the note and saw that Bella was already finished with her pancakes so i instructed her to go and get ready for Mrs. Smith's.
