Chapter 2-  The Accident:

“I- umm I was just…” I stuttered out. Damn it Skylar think of something you sound stupid. I quickly looked around the room and spotted Ava drinking some punch.

“My friend said she spiked the punch so I was just seeing if she lied or not,” I stated.

“Oh,” he said with a questioning look.

I avoided his gaze and stood up fixing my dress. I looked over to where my father was and saw that he was walking towards his office with the boys following behind. I was about to follow them when I remembered the curly boy was still there, watching me intently.

“Why are you here” I asked.

“No reason… I was just here to talk to you,” he stated with a grin.

“Oh, well I’m sorry there is something I must take care of, but I’ll see you around yeah?”

“Sure,” he stated and walked off with his friends following my dad. He turned around to see if I was looking and sure enough I was. He smiled, which I returned, then he turned around and left the room with the rest of his friends and my dad.

Somehow, I got this feeling that he was not here to just talk to me. I brushed it off and went to go find Ava and Mason. I found them at the back of the hall chatting away animatedly.

“OMG, you will not believe what just happened,” I started to say.

“No, YOU won’t believe what happened,” Ava started.

“Wait, what happened?” I said puzzled.

“There is a man here,” she said bluntly. I looked at her like she was stupid.

“Yes, Ava there are many men here,” I said with a sarcastic tone. Mason chuckled and Ava glared at him before turning her head back to me.

“No, I mean this guy looks awfully familiar. I have seen him somewhere on the news or something I just can’t remember where though,” she said trailing off.

I just nodded so she continued.

“He was talking to some lady I didn’t see her face, but I was watching him from the couch in the other room when you left. He looked very serious and saw me staring at him. I quickly looked away and then he just walked out the room. So… me being me I walked out after him. All of a sudden he turned around sharply and I smacked right into him,” she said while rubbing her nose.

I tried to contain my laughter thinking of my situation, but failed miserably.

I mentally concluded that Ava and I are horrible spies. Mason on the other hand was just laughing clutching his stomach.

Ava scoffed and continued, “He then glared at me and started going off on why I was following him, and he was rather rude. I was shocked so I quickly said I wasn’t and that’s when I saw Mason in the other room and rushed towards him, and now well here we are.”

I laughed a little but then got serious when Ava game me her warning look. I looked towards Mason and questioned him.

“Where did you go when I left to go answer the door?”

“I went to bathroom, why?” he said.

“Oh, no reason just wondering,” I said. I looked around the room to see if my dad came back with the boys but couldn’t see them anywhere.
