Chapter 1- The Party:

~TWO WEEKS LATER~

“Finally!” I huffed.

I finished curling the last piece of my dark brown hair. All I had to do was put on my dress. I walked over to my walk in closet, looking through all my options. I didn’t know which dress was appropriate to wear for the party but the last dress hanging on the rack caught my eye.

It was a strapless pink and gold one. It fit my body perfectly and was very modest, just the way I liked it. It fell right above my knees and had diamonds on the top around my chest and molded perfectly around my chest but flowed down right under my waist. I grabbed my gold heals and slipped them on quickly.

“Skylar, hurry down. The guests will be here any minute,” my mom shouted from down stairs.

“Coming,” I said and with that I sprayed some of my perfume and grabbed my earrings and bracelets before slipping them on. I looked at the mirror once more to make sure my hair, make-up, and dress looked prefect before walking out. I opted for a natural make-up look and left my curled hair down in waves around my back.

I walked out of my room making my way down the big stair case that lead to front entrance of the house. I walked down the big open stairs giving my mom a smile.

“You look beautiful honey,” my mom said.

“Thanks, I know I look good!”

I turn around to see my brother Ryder right behind me giving me a cocky grin.

I laughed and nudged him before saying, “She was talking about me stupid.”

He laughed and started walking in step with me down the stairs with his hands around my shoulders.

“Mom is right, you look absolutely stunning!” He said while smiling down at me.

“Thanks Ryder! You look quite handsome yourself.”

He was wearing a white tux with his hair slicked back and was freshly shaven. His blue eyes stood out and he looked very charming.

“I know. I know how good looking I am” He bragged. I looked over at him and laughed.

“Conceited much?”

“Nope.” He said popping the P. “I’m just stating the facts” He grinned cockily.

I pushed him away and laughed once we reached the bottom of the steps. Ryder went straight into the kitchen to get a drink.

I looked over at our house to see it all decorated. The chandelier right above the stair case looking all nice and polished and both rooms of where the party was going to be held filled with decorations and food. It looked quite nice. The white furniture complementing the dark floor boards. Everything was either white, silver, or a shade of black. It had a look of elegant and class to it.

I looked around for my Dad but didn’t see him anywhere.

“Mom where is dad?” I questioned.

“Oh, he is taking some important business call. He should be out any second now.” She said while double checking with the waiters to see if everything was perfect.

I nodded and went into one of the main rooms sitting down on the white leather couch. I pulled out my phone texting my two best friends Ava and Mason to see when they will be arriving. I waited a while before getting a reply saying they were both on their way. Ava, Mason, and I have been friends since we were practically babies in diapers. Ava and Mason however were also a couple. They have been dating for 2 years. It took them a while to finally admit they liked each other but they finally did. I smiled at the thought.
