After they had introduced themselves, Halley felt that she should explain her ignorance.
"I'm really sorry for being such a bad person. I've been at this camp for what? Two weeks, and the only names I know are the people who I share a room with! I don't even know their surnames for heavens sake!"
Reuben simply smiled. "Don't worry about it."
"Do you know, that the reason why I'm here is to make friends? My parents' master plan, apparently."
She huffed, and planted her chin in her hands. It's not that Halley was shy, in fact she was the opposite. But Halley just didn't see the point, in forcing herself to spend time with people she just couldn't get along with.
"Hey, uh, I could be your friend."
Halley turned to face Reuben, a small smile smile on her face. When she didn't say anything back, Reuben started to panic.
"God that sounded creepy." He mumbled, running a hand through his hair.
"No, no. We can be friends." Halley said, trying to reassure the blushing boy. She found his awkwardness endearing, and it seemed as if he was as lonely as herself.
"So, friend." Halley started, bumping her shoulder against his. "You know why I'm here, what's your story."

Halo: otherwise known as a 'coma', evaporated gas and dust that surrounds the nucleus of a comet.
The photo is kind of how I imagined Reuben. I don't know who the actual person is though 😁
