it was friday morning and calum was late. calum was never late. he was panicking, scurrying around his room and flinging clothes all over the place. he was up until almost three am the night before playing fifa with michael (the idiot had called to his house at midnight to play because his mom had taken away his console) and had slept in until almost eight am. he had around thirty minutes to make it to school - the boy could barely breathe.
after finding some decent clothes and freshening up he bolted out of his house, shouting a quick goodbye to his mom and sister as he ran up the street to the bus station a few minutes away. calum usually got the bus at around seven am, so that he would be in school with around an hour to spare. this morning, however, it was nearing ten past eight and he was literally sprinting down the road.
when he finally reached the bus station he was panting, fumbling with his bag to get his bus pass out. the second bus still hadn't left yet, thank god, and he began to jog towards the vehicle. he was looking down at his bag, closing the straps when he ran into something. well not something, someone. calum fell to the ground and landed on his bum, looking up at the figure he had bumped into. his eyes came into contact with two ocean blue crystals.
luke.
calum had ran into luke.
his body tensed and he didn't know what to do. he had never been this close to his crush ever, even though they had a few classes together. he had never seen the boy up close and my, was he impressed. the towering boy was sporting black skinny jeans with rips at the knees, worn out black chuck taylor's and a black leather jacket. luke's hair was patted down and he had his black metal lip ring in, a large smirk plastered across his face.
"you should watch where you're going, sweetheart."
if calum wasn't frozen in shock, he probably would have moaned at the sound of luke's voice. it was just so deep and literally screamed sex, it was as if the angels themselves were speaking. calum could feel his face burning as he gaped at the boy.
"um, s-sorry," he choked out, and mentally slapped himself for stuttering. what the fuck are you doing you idiot? be calm!
luke's chest shook softly with amusement as he held his hand out to help calum up. calum slowly placed his hand in the other boy's - god his hands were so cold - and pulled himself up.
"uh, thank you," he smiled sheepishly, his face still burning red. luke just winked as he strolled away, turning his back on the brunette.
"see you round, babe."
calum didn't know where luke ran off to, but he didn't care - he was still in shock as he stepped onto the bus and took his seat. had he seriously just run into luke? the luke hemmings? that he was "practically in love with"? calum buried his face in his hands and shook his head. you just made the biggest fool out of yourself, you dipshit, he thought to himself and let out a groan. he looked down at his hand that had touched luke's. it wasn't how he wanted their first proper meeting to go in the slightest.
the only upside to that morning's events was that he got to see the boy he's been swooning over up close - and now at least he knows calum exists. many thoughts ran through the boy's mind on the way to school. maybe luke was at the bus stop every morning at that time, and calum decided to test his theory on monday morning. if he was right, then he would see luke most mornings and maybe even strike up a conversation here and there. suddenly, calum's phone vibrated in his pocket.

from: ash
cal pal! where in hell are you?

calum rolled his eyes at the message. ashton irwin was one of his close friends, him and calum were very much alike. they both cared about their education and spent a lot of time together studying and whatnot. calum typed a quick "be there in a minute" just as the bus pulled up outside the school and he jogged inside. hopefully his day would be better than his morning.

a/n: just a little side note, if a word is italicised like this then it's usually just to make the word stand out a little, and if a whole sentence is italicised like this then it's someone's thoughts. bye kids!
