October 16
It was October now, and Troye's family had just left back for Perth a few days back. It was really sad that they were going, Troye enjoyed their company. At the same time though, he knew that he'd be seeing them in March, because that's when they'd meet their baby. Due March 5th.Troye had woken up early today. Connor was still sleeping next to him. Troye wondered if the baby was asleep, too. Today they were going to find out whether their baby was a boy or a girl. Troye got a text from Zoe when he woke up. "Remembered you told me that you'll be finding out the sex of the baby today! Congrats and we are so excited for you!"
Connor woke up alone in his bed. Troye was a night owl, so Connor wasn't surprised that Troye was already making breakfast. Avocado Toast, his favorite.
"Morning Connie!" Said Troye, handing Connor a plate. Connor smiled. He loved how Troye would get up and make breakfast everyday recently. He thought it was so sweet.
"You excited for today?" Asked Troye, knowing the answer would be yes, but too eager to keep it in. Troye had never been to an ultrasound before, and wanted to see their baby so badly. Troye was getting used to the whole idea of fatherhood, even though the word still gave him the shivers. Troye didn't care though. He got the shivers a lot. It didn't mean he wasn't excited.
Connor was excited for the ultrasound, too. He had a feeling he knew the sex of the baby, but didn't say anything. He knew that Troye wanted a boy, but he also knew Troye would be happy regardless.
Troye didn't want to say anything, but he sort of wanted a boy, but only solely because he didn't know a whole lot about girls. He'd be fine with a girl, but girls got really moody as teenagers, and he wasn't sure he could handle that.
"Franta?" Said the peppy worker that very young looking. They were at the office now. Connor and Troye stood up, holding each other's hands in theirs. Connor gave Troye's hand a squeeze as they followed the nurse, all eyes on them. Connor didn't care what they thought, because he has Troye and their baby, and he had his family and his friends, and they loved him. That was all that mattered to him.
"Let's have a look here, shall we? Said their doctor. Connor was laying down now, and the warm jelly had just been rubbed on his growing bump. An image appeared on the monitor, and they could see the baby. It was moving slightly. It was so surreal to see the baby.
Troye squeezed Connor's hand very tightly. That was their baby. On the black and white screen, there was their kid. Troye could hardly believe his eyes. He looked down at Connor, eyes full of wonder and welling up with tears of joy.
"Congrats! You've got a healthy little girl!" Connor smiled brightly. A healthy girl. He couldn't have wanted anything more. She was right there, in his stomach. That image on the monitor was her.
Connor put on his Instagram once they left a snapshot of the ultrasound with the caption, "it's a girl" in all lowercase with two pink hearts surrounding it. He and Troye had been talking about names. They had come down to Natalie Grace and Hadleigh May. Troye liked Hadleigh better, because it was a more unique name, like the spelling of his.
It was Halloween night now, and Troye was sitting at the door of their apartment in case the neighborhood kids came knocking at their door. Connor hung back, peeking over at Troye. This was the last Halloween that they wouldn't be putting a silly little outfit on their little girl. It was sentimental for Connor, seeing some parents from nearby with their toddlers and children dressed up in superhero outfits and thing liked that, knowing that would be him someday.
