Miel and I had left the lodge and took a few horses from Evelluna's stable outside. Miel had placed the ring on his finger as his armor changed into an illusion of noble clothing. It was a dark forest green doublet with his new trousers and shoes matching the color of the doublet. It was dawn when Miel and I had arrived to the boarders of Bastrostein. The boarders were heavily guarded by soldiers of the Rearenth Empire. A giant wall made of stone guarded the borders that stretched for miles and watchtowers were high above to keep watch of people who dared to escape the city and enter it illegally.

Before Miel and I was a bridge and an endless line of people trying to pass through legally to get into the capital. There were other people living outside the walls in tents and even cardboard boxes because they probably have nowhere else to go. With Miel and I dressed in noble clothes many poor and dirty beggars randomly came up to us asking for coin. One woman even asked me to read something out loud that she wrote that explained her dire situation of needing coin. I felt bad not able to give coin because I could sense all these people were suffering because of King Rearenth's rule. It put a heavy weight inside my heart that I couldn't help all these homeless people living outside the walls and those who were standing in the endless line to get into the city.

Several guards stood close by near the line to make sure there were no outbreaks of violence. Soon one of the guards saw Miel and I as he came up to us.

"Excuse me gentlemen, but it seems you are sons of nobles and nothing like these beggars. Do you have a pass, working permit, or a passport?" Miel and I looked at each other knowing we didn't have a pass and we both didn't realize we needed one to get into the city. I look back at the guard and recognized him from long ago, he was Willard the guard from Epryae. Suddenly, another guard comes, "oi Willard who are these gentlemen you are speaking to?" The other guard that came forward I knew to be Wallace.

"Aye, Wallace these gentlemen are sons of nobles and I was asking them if they had a pass to get into the city. You know nobles are allowed to cut through the line and enter the city unless they don't have a pass."

"Aye, tis the law of these lands! So, gentlemen do you have a pass?" said Wallace. There was a moment of silence as neither Miel and I didn't know what to do or say. Suddenly, Willard speaks, "actually, Wallace these fine gentlemen don't need to show us a pass!"

Wallace turns to Willard in a shocking manner, "oi, what are you ranting about? Now, Willard you know it is the law of these lands for everyone to show us a pass, work permit, or a passport. No one can enter the city without one or the other!"

"I know Wallace, but look at em..."

Wallace looks at both Miel and I and then something strange happened.

"I guess you're right they don't need to show a pass. Very well then, you gents follow me to the gate."

Wallace signaled Miel and I to follow him as we both looked at each other in complete awe. Miel just shrugged his shoulders and mounted off from out horses to escort them up to the gate. We arrive at the main gate going by everyone who was waiting in the line.

"Lieutenant, I have sons of nobles with me who have the necessary papers to enter the city!"

The people in the line begin to get riled up because of Miel and I able to go pass them and enter the city. Another guard shouts "Pipe down people they have the right to enter the city first!"

Suddenly, one person from the line rushes out of the line to try rushing through the main gate. A random guard quickly shoots down the person that tried to rush through with a black powdered musket. The loud gunshot silences everyone from within the line and the people stop.
