I told my father, for I believed he would finally see my unhappiness. I had color in my cheeks, a rosy glow that lit up my smile. Nothing had changed. He was as stiff and wooden as ever, but his skin was pale. I couldn't expect my superficial father to care for me, or my marriage..yet some small part of my soft and gentle heart had hoped he would. I made merry that day, for the wedding due in the morning.
