Asher's POV

It seems like I blinked and it was already next Monday. Me and Cara have actually been doing pretty good. We still talk and see each other, but it still feels like there's some barrier between us. And that barrier was Derek and Katie. I still didn't really understand why Cara saw Katie as such an awful person.. but then again, it's the same thing with me and Derek. I pick up my phone and text Cara.

Asher: Coffee this morning?

Cara: I don't really feel like going out anywhere..

Asher: Oh yeah.. Are you nervous for school?

Cara: I'm nervous for you

Asher: Why me

Cara: You're gonna get so much shit for hitting me

Asher: It was an accident

Cara: Well yeah WE know that but no one else does

Asher: I can handle it

Cara: Ooook

Asher: You need a ride?

Cara: Yeah thanks

Asher: Np be ready in 10

Cara: Tf no I just woke up give me 20

Asher: 15

Cara: I hate you

Asher: Love you too <3 <3 <3

We walk into school together and people are already shouting at me and flipping me off. Cara's squeezing my arm, whispering not to engage in their bull shit, but it's really hard. Then of course, as if my day couldn't have been worse already, Katie walks up to us, and OF course, me and Cara are in the most boyfriend, girlfriend position ever.

Katie: "Um excuse me. Who are you?"

Cara: "Katie you know who I am," she rolls her eyes.

Katie: "No I mean why are you all over my boyfriend."

Cara: "You mean my best friend," she says moving closer to me.

Katie: "Look hun, unless you want another one of those bruises, I suggest you back off," she moves in closer to Cara.

Asher: "Katie-"

Cara: "Please bitch, I'd like to see you try," Cara steps in front of me.

She swings at Cara's face, and Cara grabs her fist and twists her arm.

Cara: "Not your best idea- hun," she pushes her away from us.

Katie: "You're gonna regret that," Katie says, then walks away.

Cara: "Wow I'm so scared," Cara states sarcastically.

There was silence for a moment, then Cara turned to me with her arms crossed and a disappointed look on her face.

Cara: "Glad that's the type of girlfriend you want," she says, walking away.

Asher: "Cara wait-" I plead, grabbing her arm.

Derek: "Hey Reed, keep your hands off my girlfriend," he says, yanking her towards him, "I don't need the other side of her face bruised too," he says obnoxiously loud.

A group of people start to circle us.

Cara: "Derek, come on, it was an accident."

Derek: "Babe I can handle handle this," he shields her from me, looking me dead in the eye."
