Lies and Raptors

a/n: forgive me, it's been so long since I updated but I got a lot of comments and requests from you guys so here's your next chapter!

Shit.

He wanted me to meet the raptors? I couldn't let him know that I didn't like them, much less that I was afraid of dinosaurs. Because seriously, how stupid is it for someone who's scared of dinosaurs to go work on a dinosaur infested park?

"Um" I started to say, thinking of an excuse I could give him.

"Are you excited?" He asked me and grinned.

"I'm actually really tired Owen" I said softly "It's a great offer and all, don't get me wrong but maybe some other time?"

The minute I said that his face fell. I could see his disappointment and I internally groaned. Why did I have to upset him ?

"That's totally cool, Alyssa. I'll see you tomorrow?" He said. I let out a sigh and said "Thanks"

It was around 6 and I was thinking of going back to my room. Owen fell into step next to me and I looked at him curiously.

"Why are you being so nice to me?" I blurted out and he laughed.

"Wow, you are defensive. It's kind of my job to show around new employees around the raptor paddock. So even if I didn't want to, I have to hang with you" He said, looking at me sideways. 

"That makes me feel so much better, thank you" I said, earning another hearty laugh from him.

"I like you already" He said as he walked with me till the hotel.

"Where do you stay?" I asked.

"I got a bungalow all to myself" He declared proudly "You should come visit sometime"

"Of course" I said. We were getting close to the hotel and I felt a little disappointed that our time together today would end.

"What's your favorite part of Jurassic World?" Owen asked me as we neared the door.

"Um" I paused and realized I had seen nothing yet.

"Too many favorite parts?" He asked me.

I shook my head and pushed my hands into my jacket pockets sheepishly.

"Wait are you kidding me? You haven't seen anything in Jurassic World?" He asked.

I shrugged and said "I kind of didn't have the time"

"Shut up, I'm going to give you a personal tour" Owen said, interrupting me.

"What?" I sputtered.

"Not today, relax. But I have Saturday off. Be ready for a long day ahead" He said and held open the door.

"That's assuming I'm not fired by Saturday" I said and entered. He smiled and said "You're worrying a lot, Claire is bossy but she's not that bad."

I was about to thank him before he added "She'll definitely give you at least another week before firing you"

"Oh, fuck you!" I said and hit him in the chest. It didn't even move him the slightest because I wasn't strong and he kept laughing.

"Wow, I don't think I've laughed this much in ages. Thank you for gracing us with your presence Alyssa Parker" He said.

I turned to face him. We were standing in the hotel lobby.

"I'll see you tomorrow" I said, stepping back towards the elevators.

"Yes you will" He nodded "Have a nice night Alyssa"

"You too Owen" I said and turned around, pushing the elevator button. I looked over my shoulder as Owen left and I felt a pleasant feeling in my stomach as it finally settled down. He was really nice. I went up to my room and only then I felt the tiredness overtake me. 

I reached Claire's office the next day on time. It was Friday and tomorrow I had the tour with Owen. If he was serious about that. I had finally decided to unpack everything so today I was wearing relatively better clothes than the days before. 

Claire almost looked pleased to see me on time and in better attire. 

"Hi, Alyssa" She said. Hopefully her good mood would last.

"I had a word with Owen Grady yesterday and he was pretty impressed with your work on the doors. Some of my other structural engineers rechecked and they deemed you worthy" She said and I couldn't stop myself from smiling.

"Guess you're hired" She said. Before I could say something, arms wrapped around my waist as Owen yelled "I told you!"

I let out a shriek in surprise as he spun me around before putting me back on the ground and I tried to regain my breath. Before I could overthink his actions, Barry spoke up;

"You have to stop doing with all the new employees" He said and Owen just looked pleased with himself.

"He did that with Lowery as well" Claire commented, looking indifferent. Instead of feeling hurt that I wasn't special for being picked up by him, I realized how great Owen was. 

"I'll stop doing that when we stop hiring pretty girls" He said and Barry made a sound of disgust and Claire just said "Lowery's not that pretty"

I looked around at the three of them and I couldn't stop feeling so happy.

I finally got the job I had kind of always wanted. Claire seemed to not hate me and Owen Grady was the most adorable thing on Earth.

"Thank you Claire" I said and she almost smiled at me before rolling her eyes and saying "You were capable for the job so no need to thank me"

"And Claire has used up all her niceness today so she shall go back to being a bitch" Owen said and Claire stared at him, but she didn't look mad. Barry left in the meanwhile to resume the work as Claire began with the formalities. 

"Since you're now an official Jurassic World employee, we'll be getting you a card and a badge so you can get around the park with ease" She said, with a more official tone.

"No need for that, Alyssa likes to spend every minute locked up in her suite" Owen said but Claire ignored him and continued.

"Which reminds me, you'll be getting a house on the property and we're currently arranging one for you. You can stay in the hotel suite till it's done and then you can move in" She said. I didn't have a chance to say anything because I was trying to register everything that was happening. She handed me a bunch of files. 

"Thanks" I breathed and she simply nodded. 

"If you have any questions or complaints, just let Lowery know" She said, handing me another card with his number on it.

"That'll be all for today. You start work on Monday" She said, seemingly in a hurry to get out of here. Owen was quiet during all this and as soon as she left he looked at me with a grin and said "Welcome to the best job you'll ever have"
