My Ridiculous Outfit

I glanced at my phone again to see where Claire was supposed to meet me.

I stood at the port, with all of my luggage in my hands, and a ridiculous urban safari outfit staring at everyone trying to figure out where Claire was.

The outfit wasn't my fault really, my brother had told me of how all the park volunteers were expected to look the part and I had no idea what he meant by that so I picked up an Army Jacket and denim shorts. The latter obviously was my own fault.

Why would I ever agree to wear this atrocity?

I spotted someone who worked here and I hurried over to them.

"Excuse me? I was supposed to meet Claire here but I have no idea where she is" I said in a hurry and pushed my sunglasses down. I dropped one suitcase and let out a sigh.

The lady stared at me, before her eyes traveled up and down my body, lingering for a few seconds longer on the straw hat situated on my blond head.

"I'm sorry I'm just here to receive the visitors so I don't have any idea about the...uh...costume party. You can go to the main office and find out" She said and pointed to a building up top. I looked at her, wondering if she was serious. Was my outfit really that bad?

I nodded "Thanks anyway"

I lifted my other suitcase and went up the path. A lot of people were looking at me funny but after more than twenty minutes of that on the boat, I was used to it.

"Excuse me, is there Claire here? I'm a new employee" I asked someone as soon as I got off the monorail.

"Claire would be in the control room. I'll call her down for you if you like" The guard told me and said something in his walkie talkie.

I looked around the Island while I waited for him to respond. I still hadn't got a good luck at it and I had been so desperately excited to come here.

"She's in a meeting right now, could you wait half an hour?" The man conyeved to me. I nodded and found a spot on one of the park benches.

I let out a breath and stared at the ground below as I waited.

This was unbelievable. I was here, at Isla Nunbar, at Jurassic World.

"Ma'am, if you want you can go get some refreshments at the cafes on Main Street" The guard from earlier said "You look exhausted"

I decided to take his advice and got up to make my way to a cafe. It probably wasn't a good idea leaving my luggage behind but I didn't have the energy to carry it all the way back and forth.

I looked around at Main Street and walked to the cafe which had the least amount of people in queue, that probably meant it wasn't as good as the others but I was too tired and in a hurry to care.

"Yeah, one lemon iced tea" I said, upon my turn and waited as they filled up a plastic glass. Only then I realized how thirsty I really was.
I could feel my mouth water, much like it does at a restaurant when I see a waiter with my food, as the girl at the counter approached me with my drink.

I took it from her and instantaneously cooled down at touching the cold cup.

Finally, I could have some peace.

Of course, luck was way too much on my side today and it was bound for something to go wrong sooner or later.

I turned to leave and as soon as I did I came in contact with a hard surface.

The next thing I felt was cold soda slosh all over my face and my top.

I let out a small gasp at the extreme temperature and felt the soda drip into my top.

"Oh shit" I heard.

I opened my eyes and looked at him.

"Shit, shit, shit, shit"

I could feel everyone staring at me and I was already becoming extremely intolerant of the sticky soda inside my top and in my hair.

"Are you okay? I'm so sorry" He said.

Of course I was okay. I just had soda all over me before my most important meeting, but oh well.

"I'm okay" I said and lifted my straw hat up from my eyes to get a better look at him.

"I'm so sorry" He said.

I drew in a short breath.

Fuck.
