It became really clear really fast that today was not my day.

First, I'm late to all of my classes because this school literally can't count or alphabetize, (I mean really- why is room B-07 next to room C-11 and across the hall from room E-03??) then there weren't any seats in two of my classes for me so I had to stand, and then my shoes were stepped on so many times in the hall, my white converse are now brown converse.

So let's just say by lunch time I was ready to go home.

Lunch at my old school was actually great- it was forty minutes long, you could eat anywhere you wanted with anyone you wanted since all grades ate at the same time, and there were multiple lunch options in multiple locations so you could get anything and the line reductions were unbelievable so you didn't spend your whole lunch period just getting it.

Here at Beacon I-Already-Hate-It Hills High, lunch is a mere twenty minutes, there was only one lunch line, and each grade ate separately, leaving me all alone since Scott and Stiles were juniors.

As I stood awkwardly alone, I was beginning to regret the bagged lunch in my hand for the sake of waiting in line and cutting my alone time significantly.

"Hey, new girl!" a female voice calls out.

It took me a minute to realize the girl was talking to me.

I took in the dark wavy hair, and the perfectly symmetrical features of the freshman before meeting the big brown eyes and she took the eye contact as a go-ahead for whatever else she wanted to say.

"Liam wants you to sit with us." She smirks, shooting a pointed look another freshman boy, who was glaring at the girl, face turning beet red.

"Wha-wha- I-" he sputters, and the girl rolls her eyes before turning back to me.

"My name is Violet- why don't you come sit? You look like a lost puppy."

I snort, and, deciding I didn't have any better options, head over to the circular table consisting of four people- a dark skinned dark haired boy, the goalie from this morning who I remembered was named Liam with the startling blue eyes, and another boy- the blond one who I recognized as one of the two shooting on Liam, remembering he was the stronger shooter of the two.

Violet sends me a smile, one I return.

"So what's your name, Newbie?" the blond asks, a cocky grin on his face and an arm wrapped around Violet. "Or should I just call you Newbie?"

"Dear God, Garrett, we're trying to make friends with her, not scare her away." the dark-skinned boy scolds his friend before turning to me. "I'm Mason."

I smile at him before replying, "Madison."

"So where are you from, Madison? Because you look awfully familiar.." supplies Violet, squinting her brown eyes as if trying to place my face in her memory.

"Um, I'm from Hollywood- my.. mother was an actress there, and my family went to her award ceremonies and whatnot." I shrug like it's no big deal.

Violet snaps her fingers. "That's it! Oh my God, your mother is Alyssa Lancaster!"

I nod sheepishly, as Garrett squints at the girl.

"Who the hell is Alyssa Lancaster, and how do you know her?"

Violet rolls her eyes before shooting a look at me as if in apology. "She's an actress- she played the main character in that's how I used to make you watch every night before we would-"

"Right!" Mason cuts her off sharply. "Right, Alyssa Lancaster, now lets change the topic before you two lovebirds go into detail about your sex life in front of a girl we just met. Not that I'd want to hear about it anyway.."

Garrett laughs, tightening his grip on Violet's shoulder. "You're just jealous of my girl, Mase."

Mason rolls his eyes. "Yes, I, the gay one, am jealous of your obviously female girlfriend." he deadpans.

A collective laugh occurs then.

"So Madison, how are you enjoying Beacon Hills?"

How am I enjoying Beacon Hills?

Well...

I shrug. "I don't know, it's not bad."

The groups nods, and Violet squints at Liam, who's been silently picking at his food the whole time.

"Why so quiet Li?" she questions him, and he looks up,startled, giving me a view of his perfect blue eyes again.

Mason nudges his friend's shoulder, smiling at Violet. "Li's just nervous for try-outs today." He nods at Garrett. "What about you, man, are you nervous?"

Garrett scoffs haughtily. "As if. I'm definitely on the team-guaranteed. If they put people like Bilinski and Greenburg on first line, they're definitely going to put me, and you, Li." I note a hint of bitterness in his voice when he says his next sentence. "Li might even be team captain."

Liam blushes, shrugging. "Maybe." he retorts in a quiet voice.

Garrett snorts at his friend. "Sorry, Madison, Li-Li gets shy around pretty girls."

Liam glares at him with no real malice. "Jesus, Garrett, how many times do I have to tell you to stop calling me that?" Garrett just smirks at him.

Violet frowns at her boyfriend, hitting his chest with the back of her hand. "Garrett, stop teasing him, besides, it's not even true-if Liam really got nervous around pretty girls, he'd be nervous around me."

I think she was joking?

"Anyway," Violet begins, cutting a look my way, "I think Madison is just special."

Liam's face heats up, a red crawling down his neck and the tips of his ears as his friends laugh.

"Just messing with you, Li." Violet promises. Liam just rolls his eyes.

The rest of the lunch period, we talk about irrelevant things like grades, school, sports, and celebrities, but I spend the time cutting glances at Liam, and his amazing blue eyes, and I'm not positive, but I think he might be doing the same to me.
