The next morning I was not greeted by the battered but beloved blue jeep and skinny dark haired boy, but a navy blue Prius and gorgeous red head (strawberry-blond?).
"Hi, Madison, I'm Lydia." she greets me warmly, eyes skating down, accessing my long sleeved black floral romper and white high top converse with waves. "I love your romper."
So this was Lydia- a fashionable junior in a black tank top, aztec cardigan, floral skirt, heels, and curls. She had green eyes, and a beautiful smile, and a face I'd kill for.
Queen bee of the school, Lydia Martin, was giving me a ride to school today. Violet is going to freak.
Lydia and I talked casual things for a while, and although we had never met we kept the conversation running the whole ride, something I learned we both were good at among other things.
By the time we arrived, not only were there stares, but there were whispers, and unfazed, Lydia and I sauntered up to the school, parting ways once I noticed Liam standing by the railing.
"Hey guys." I greet, waving to Violet as she smiles at me arm and arm with Garrett before entering the school.
As I approach Liam, I take in his appearance, frowning at the bandage on his arm, then his ankle- unswollen, and perfectly fine. "What happened to your arm?" I greet.
Liam frowns at the bloody fabric. "Your cousin bit me."
I feel my brain melt as it tries to comprehend Liam's words."What?"
"Last night- yeah, he bit me!" He pulls back the bandage to reveal a bloody wound, clearly in the form of a bite, and I look away without getting a clear view, suppressing my gag reflex.
"Liam, that's disgusting." I point out, and he rolls his eyes.
While I get my breathing under control, Liam focuses his vision across the quad, seemingly distressed. With no warning, he grabs my wrist, dragging me with him toward the school, leaving me without a choice as I follow him.
"Liam, what the hell are you doing?" I hissed, but he made no move to stop or answer as he glanced behind him as if searching for a pursuer.
"Liam!" I hiss, glancing behind to see my cousin. If he was surprised we were together, he didn't show it.
"Liam, hey we need to talk to you!" And that was Stiles. Liam stops, moving his grip on my wrist to my hand, and I feel my heart in my throat, too shocked to speak up.
"No you need to back the hell up- both of you!" Liam hisses, and the boys frowned, Liam and I still cornered between them.
"Can you just listen for one second?" Scott pleads, and Liam glances at me, as if asking me for an answer. I shrug- what's the harm. Liam juts his chin in affirmation.
Scott takes a deep breath. "Liam." he begins dramatically."We're brothers now."
"What?!" Liam and I ask in unison.
Stiles groans behind us. "Oh God, that's.."
Liam scowls at the juniors, clenching his jaw making it even more angled, and I might just faint. "What are you talking about?" he demands, attention on Scott. "We just met and you bit me."
Scott adopts the dramatic tone again. "The bite. The bite is a gift."
What?
"Scott, stop. Please stop." Stiles interjects, moving to stand next to him. "You! We are trying to help you, you little runt!" I snort at the Irish slang, and Stiles narrows his eyes at me, no doubt remembering my threat to key his baby Roscoe.
