I had no clue who the girl was. She was sitting on a bench with her legs crossed, reading A Tale of Two Cities. I was instantly captivated. She had beautiful red hair, tied into a braid lying over her shoulder. Her face was shaped and very well proportioned. Surprisingly, she had the brightest blue eyes I had ever seen. She glanced up at me and I think she caught me staring. A faint, pink blush crept across her cheeks. That did me in. I decided I had to meet her. I walked over to her.

"Hi," she said to me and closed her book. I was baffled that she was the first to say something. Especially to someone average like me.

"Uh..hi," I responded with a stupid grin on my face.

"I noticed you staring." My face dropped as I tried to think of an excuse.

"Uhm... n-no I wasn't. Was I? S-sorry.." I said and kicked at the dirt, sheepishly.

"It's perfectly fine." she giggled. That was probably the cutest thing I had ever heard. Do I have a crush? Fuck...

"O-oh..." I blushed. All I could do was stutter.

"So, why is someone like you here in this place full of stuck up, privileged asses?" she said and grinned.

"I wanted to look good on my resumè." I said truthfully and chuckled.

"Ah. Sounds like Toby." she replied. Toby? Oh no... she has a boyfriend.

"Who?" I asked and hoped it wasn't her boyfriend.

"The local idiot. He's great though. Super pothead." she smiled at me.

"Oh. Okay, cool. How long have you been enrolled?" I asked, trying to change the subject.

"I was here last semester. How about you?" she said.

"Today is my first day. I'm a newb." I said and smiled at her.

"If you want, maybe I could show you around later?" she said and as soon as she did, I choked.

"Oh! Really? I'd love that, thank you." I spat out quickly. Thank god I don't seem desperate......

"What's your name?" she asked as she laughed a little.

"Maiya. What's yours?" I responded with a genuine smile.

"Lyndsey. Could I have your number? I have some stuff to do. Maybe get food later?" she suggested and I got tingly.  Was that a date? I'm getting ahead of myself. She's probably straight and bored.

"Sounds great." I said and we exchanged numbers. We bid our farewells and I was the most giddy son of a bitch you'd ever meet.

I checked my phone every three seconds waiting on a text. After almost an hour, a text popped up on my screen.
