"Okay, so Charlie. We've found your parents will. They left most of their life savings for you. Some of it goes to your aunts and uncles. Because you're now legally an adult, you don't need to be cared for by relatives. So, to help you start off, we've purchased you a flat close to where you used to live." One of the men sitting down explained.
The boys and I had been sitting here for over two hours. We had a break when they needed to sort some other things out. I'm guessing this is what they were sorting out. I nodded my head showing that I understood. I never actually knew what was in my parents will, so I had no idea this was coming. It's going to be really hard living by myself, I mean most of my relatives live in different countries, and now I'm eighteen and an adult, I have to live by myself.
"So, what about us? Can we still stay friends with Charlie?" Harry asked.
I never actually thought about that. If I'd still be friends with them after all of this was sorted out.
"Well, you can do whatever you like. Stay friends or go your separate ways. It's up to you guys." He smiled, standing up and grabbing the papers on his desk.
"Oh, and Charlie? If you just go down to the lobby, there's your keys for the flat." He reminded me.
"Oh, thanks for doing that by the way." I smiled at him, standing up from my chair.
The boys all stood up and followed me out of the office and to the elevator. I pressed the button, and we all waited in silence. No one said anything the whole time until the elevator opened.
"So, what are we going to do now?" Niall interrupted the silence.
"Well, I'm going to go and check out my new flat, then I'll probably have to buy new furniture and stuff." I smiled looking around at all the boys.
They nodded their hands and followed me out of the elevator. We walked out into the lobby, and over to a young lady sitting at the desk.
"Excuse me?" I asked politely.
"Hello, how can I help you?" She asked in a cheerful voice. Wow, today must be a good day for her.
"Well, I was told there was a set of keys here for me. Could I possibly pick them up?" I asked, hoping the man was right.
"Yes, here they are." She said, swivelling around in her chair, looking in the desk drawers.
She passed the keys to me with a smile. I thanked her and turned around to walk towards where the boys were sitting. I smiled at them as we walked out the automatic doors.
"Did you guys want to come and check out my new flat?" I asked, shrugging my shoulders.
"Yeah, cool. What's the address?" Harry asked.
"14 Walter court. I'll see you guys there." I smiled and turned around to walk towards the hire car.
As I arrived at the car, I climbed in and was greeted by a very cheerful man. He smiled brightly at me before turning back towards the road.
"So, where are we going today?" He asked smiling.
"To 14 Walter court, please." I told him, turning to look out the window.
He started up the car, and turned the car onto the road. The streets were filled with people walking with their families. It reminded me of my family. How we used to spend days together going on family outings. Having movie nights on Fridays. But that was then, this is now. I don't have my family anymore. Just me by myself. I still haven't had the chance to see Sam. I didn't even know what to do about my families death. Would I have a funeral? Or would I just have them buried. I tried not to think about all of the things running through my head.
In no time we had arrived at my new flat.
"Here we are. That will ten pounds please." He told me, turning around as I fished through my bag for the money.
I handed him the money with a 'thanks' and stepped out of the car onto to curb. As I walked down the street looking for my number I found it. As I walked down the stone path there was green grass covering most of the yard, a couple of trees lines the fence with flowers in the dirt. Stepping up the steps, I notice the house was made from a white weatherboard and it had a little deck in front of a window. Unlocking the door I walked in and instantly smelt the new house smell. I walked around. To the left of the door was the dining room. The dining room led to the kitchen, which led to the bedrooms. The colour palette was red and white. More of a modern colour palette. I walked into the master bedroom. Surprisingly the whole house was already furnished. I walked over and jumped onto my new queen bed.
*knock* *knock*
I quickly jumped up from my bed and ran through the house towards the front door. Opening it I was greeted by five boys standing there.
"Hey guys." I smiled stepping aside so they could walk in.
They all gave me a hug and walked inside the house. They walked around inspecting it, as I followed smiling.
"Wow, it's huge!" Harry gushed, sitting down on the couch along with the rest if the boys.
"Yea. I love it. I can't believe they actually bought me a house!" I smiled jumping on the couch next to Niall.
Right now, everything just felt right. Even if I had just lost my only family, it feels as though I just got a new one. Everything is just perfect.
