The weeks went by and Payback was quickly approaching. Rumors spread through the locker rooms that Dean and I were an item but we weren't. We never talked about that night again and although we would find ourselves in situations where we would end up sharing a few kisses or our hands would suddenly be entwined, we never made things official. I was still afraid he would leave if we did anymore than what we have. I was in love with Dean and I had been for awhile but I needed to be sure that he was there too. I didn't want anymore hurt and I wasn't sure how things would go if we were official. Part of me thought Dean was waiting to see if I'd realize he wouldn't leave. The other part of me said that was crazy and that Dean wasn't that type of guy. Dean didn't care what others thought so why would he care that I wanted him to stay?

Paige and I had become closer as well while Alicia took some time off for family issues. She had become the best girl friend that I never really had. We began to room together as Dean had started rooming with Roman again per my request, but car rides to the next city were always an adventure. Roman had so many special appearances now that he was champ which left Dean, Paige, and I to drive from city to city together. Dean never complained about sharing a car with two girls all though there were times, I was sure he would have rather been with one of the guys.

That's where we found ourselves now. Paige, Dean, and I were on our way to the next city on a Sunday night. The Sunday night before Payback. It was well after midnight and Dean was driving. Paige had taken the back, leaving me in the front with Dean. I glanced at Dean and seen him cringe as I turned up the radio. Paige and I began to sing along to the song in an office key tone.

"Cuz baby now we've got bad blood, you know it used to be mad love," Paige and I sang together.

"Do you two always have to sing along to the most annoying songs?" Dean asked with a smirk on his face.

I glanced back at Paige and we both smiled. "Yup," we said in unison.

"Next time, remind me to ride with the guys," Dean replied.

"Aww, what's the matter, Deano? Don't like being stuck in a car for hours with two girls? We might just corrupt you and make you one of us," Paige joked as she dug out her phone that began ringing.

Paige became distracted with her phone and I shot a shy glance towards Dean. Our eyes met for a brief second before his switched back to the road but not before I seen his face turn up in a smirk. I felt my cheeks burn as his hand slipped into mine. Dean glanced back up in the mirror to find Paige still distracted and turned towards me again still keeping get his eyes on the road. "Having you in the car makes this bearable, you know," he said as he returned his attention back to the road with that cocky smirk on his face.

"Ok, see you on Monday, Renee," Paige said as she hung up the phone.

The whole car had fallen silent. Renee had taken a break after Wrestlemania to get over her break up with Dean and I was certain she had no idea what everyone thought about our situation yet. By the sound of the end of the conversation, she was coming back at Raw. I glanced over at Paige who had a strange look on her face. "What?" I asked.

Dean glanced in the mirror again as Paige began laughing. "Renee is coming back tomorrow night and says she's going to get Dean back if it's the last thing she does. Haha! If she only knew," Paige said as she sat back in her seat, laughing.

Dean and I shared an 'uh oh' look before I pulled my hand from Dean's and turned in my seat to see Paige. "What do you mean?" I asked.

Paige rolled her eyes before leaning forward in her seat. "She doesn't realize the Mr. Dean here already has someone else. Oh geez, Kelse, don't play dumb with me," She said.

I felt my eyes nearly fall out of my head. Everyone thought Dean and I were an item but we weren't or at least I don't think we are. Not yet. "Oh," was all I said as I sat back in my seat.

My mind was spinning. What if Renee tried to come after me because of what everyone is going to tell her? What everyone thinks? But honestly, there's nothing going on. Dean made his comment in front of Sheamus to get him to leave me alone but nothing else had really happened between me and him since then. Sure we were together all the time but that's how we use to be, how we have always been.

The car had become increasingly quite and I hadn't noticed until Dean reached over and grabbed my hand once again. My eyes fluttered to his and he gave me a warm smile before putting his eyes back on the road. I glanced in the back and noticed Paige had fallen asleep.

"Dean, I need to ask you something," I asked.

Dean glanced at me with his eyebrows raised, curiosity in his eyes. "ok, go for it," he said.

"What are we?"

The question was simple but the atmosphere in the car seemed to shift. I wasn't sure what I wanted us to be and Dean seemed to be thinking about his answer, taking longer than he should have. "I'm not sure exactly, Kelsey. We never talked about it after that night and I don't exactly feel comfortable talking about it now, with Paige in the car and all," Dean replied.

I nodded my head and fought back the lump in my throat. I wasn't sure what I was hoping Dean would say. I had been so confused since the incident that I was constantly wondering and thinking about it and now, when I finally get the courage to ask Dean, he goes and diverts the question. I glanced out the window as the night dragged on. I felt a single tear slide down my face. I was beginning to feel things were turning out like they always had in the past. Dean was going to string me up and lead me on and then disappear once again...
