Chapter 8: Running in Circles

(Zander's POV)

I walk out of the bathroom of the club, but before I can get back to the guys a girl stops me and kisses me. I don't argue and kiss back. I hear the beginning of VIBEZ and step away from the girl. Without saying a thing I walk back to the guys with a smile etched on my face.

I walk up to the guys while mouthing the words to the song while scoping out the building. I hear Carter's name and snap my head over to the guys trying to listen to their conversation.

"I'm still wondering how I haven't fucked her before," Jayden says, rubbing his chin with his hand.

"Dude she's Zander's partner, you can't talk about her like that in front of him," Logan laughs and hits Jayden's chest with the back of his hand.

"Sorry man," Jayden laughs, shaking my shoulder.

The song ends and a voice booms over the speakers," Okay guys, I'm feeling good tonight, let's mix things up a bit," the DJ says. The Cha Cha Slide starts playing and everyone starts dancing.

"Hold up, the DJ is a girl?!" Jayden asks, gaping.

We all look up at HER. She has a Batman tank top on, but I can't see her face. I go over to the bar to get a Coke. A girl comes up to me, obviously drunk. I'm not really into blondes, so I try to pay her no mind. When the guy gives me my drink, the girl pulls me down a crashes her lips onto mine. Again? I can taste coconut rum.  Good drink choice. The song ends and the girl pulls away with a smirk on her face. She walks away and a song I don't recognize starts playing.

"We've been on a tragedy for months
Why can't you agree with me for once?
Maybe we can be on chill tonight," it plays and I actually like it.

After that song is over I see a girl walk up to the DJ, after a few seconds and remixed version of Me Myself & I starts playing. I make my way back over to the guys and there faces are red from laughter.

"Dude you fucking killed that Cha Cha slide," Jayden laughs and Logan nods like he's the man.

"Hey guys, I'm going to go request a song," Ashton says, standing up.

We nod our heads in acknowledgment and I start talking to Jayden.

"Carter seems like a cool chick," Jayden says over the loud music.

"Yeah, but I think there's something she's hiding. I mean how could she do that with Kayla? She'd have to know how to twist just right without breaking it. And her fast reflexes, she had to have been trained," I say agreeing with him, but also explaining my thinking.

"I guess we'll have to find ways for her to show her true colors," Jayden says with a wicked grin.

It's been almost five minutes since Ashton left. I bet he's getting some from the DJ. Logan is occupied with some red head.

"Yeah, I mean I have to learn who the real Carter Davis is for the project, so it won't be a bad thing," I say, trying to make it sound like a good idea.

Ashton walks back over to our booth and slides in next to me. American Idiot starts to play as soon as Me, Myself and I ended. It's different than the original. A good different though.

"Do you hear the sounds of hysteria? The subliminal mind fuck America," I sing along to my favorite part of the song.

Ashton is smiling up at the DJ. He got some. He definitely got some,"Ash why are you smiling?" I ask.
