Laci
I woke up, analyzing the room I was in. I was confused as hell and I had a huge headache to go with it. I looked on the nightstand to my left, and there was a letter. I immediately knew that I was in boss's house. My boss obviously had a thing for notes. I thought it was cute and sweet. It would make anyone feel loved and nurtured. I read the note...
"Good Morning Ms.Smith, you had a very hectic night. I wouldn't be a good boss if I waked you. You need as much rest as you can get. I'm giving you an extended vacation due to a family emergency/crisis. Take as much time as you need. Breakfast is in the microwave and there is one tylenol downstairs on the kitchen counter if you still have a migraine. Do not, I repeat, do NOT snoop around my room for anymore pills to overdose. If I come home and you're still there, unconscious, I will personally wake you up to kill you myself. If you need anything, you know my cell number. I should be home shortly. By the way, if you're wondering why you're kind of undressed, just know I didn't rape you. I am most definitely not that type of woman, but I hope you feel better and just shoot me a call or text if you need anything."
It was so nice of her really. Considering she became my boss only 24 hours ago and now she was taking care of me like my best friend would have. It was something about this woman that intrigued me, and I really wanted to know what. Meanwhile, I'm here in this huge house, drowning in my sorrow. I had just lost someone very close to me and I still didn't know how to mourn over it. Tears slowly fell down my face and I tried so hard to captivate them but it wasn't working. I just wanted to be held and talked to soothingly, and the person who was suppose to be there for me, was nowhere to be found. I tried to brush the thought off by going downstairs to grab breakfast and wait for my boss to get back. I feel a little bad that I just got hired and I couldn't be there for her. Luckily she understood what was going on and quickly turned into the perfect boss. Others wouldn't have been so kind about a vacation when I just started. I sat down on the comfortable suave couch and turned the television on. I looked around and realized that this house was amazing! I jumped when I heard the sound of my cell phone. It was my mom, I can only imagine what she was going through back home. I wasn't even there to comfort her.
"Hello."
"Hey baby, how are you?"
"I'm currently drowning myself in a food coma. I think I'll manage. How is everything back at home? How is Aunt Jackie and Uncle Mason?"
"Not so good, Jackie isn't doing well. Mason is trying so hard to be there for her, but I can only imagine what my poor sister is going through. I have no idea what I would do if I lost one of you. All we can do is pray that our family can take this one day at a time."
"Yeah I know. I will call you later to check on you. Let me know about the funeral arrangements. I love you ma."
"I love you too baby girl." After ending the call with my mother, somewhere between The Notebook and Me Before You, I fell asleep. It was of the most peaceful sleeps I've had in months. I was awakened by the sound of my phone.
In a very raspy voice I answered, "Hello."
"Hey Laci, I know you haven't eaten anything since this morning, so is there anything in particular that you want to eat?"
"Are you watching me, and I really love pasta right about now."
"In fact, my whole condo is monitored. There are cameras all over, but I know the perfect choice of pasta for you. My mom loves it."
"Oh my goodness, I really had no idea, but before you get here, would you mind me taking a bath?"
"No problem, you can use my main bathroom or one of the others. I'll be there in 20 minutes."
