Danny hesitated as he held his mobile phone in his hand, he cared for Matt, and he did not want anything bad to happen. Running through the contacts, he paused and held his breath as he pressed the call button. It began to ring, tension building as he waited for Matt to pick up. “Hi Matt, it’s me.”
“Hey how is everything going?” Matt said cheerily.
“Good, everyone seems ok with me staying here.” Danny sighed. “I wouldn’t call this place fun, but I do miss you.” His voice caught in his throat, he listened to his best friend tell him about the graduation he missed. “The pack said that you can come and visit if you want to.” He hoped that Matt would have an excuse not to visit. “Yes this weekend would be perfect, no risk of attack.” Danny tried to laugh as his heart dropped. “Call me when you get to the Village and I'll make my way over, bye.” Danny lay in the king-size bed, his eyes fixated on a spot on the ceiling. All of his anger and annoyance at his current predicament concentrated into one powerful hating piercing stare. His wolf was restless, longing for comfort and calm, but he was too agitated to try to calm it. He rolled over and thumped his fist into the pillow.
Raven lay his hand on Danny's back, feeling no resistance he gradually rolled him over. Danny's blue eyes were full of desperation and tears. “You are doing what needs to be done. I know that it must be hard for you.” He said softly.
“He was all I had left of my old life.” Danny croaked.
“Then perhaps you should focus more on your new one.” Raven traced his finger along Danny's cheek. “You have a large family that cares for you.”
“Do they, or are they just protecting themselves.” Danny said spitefully. “Do you care about me, or are you just ashamed of what you did to me?”
“I love you, but I am obligated to this pack.” Raven explained.
“What does that mean?” Danny pushed Raven's hand away. “Do you want to be with me or not, I can't take this back and forth shit much longer.”
“What he means is I have forbidden him to seek active relations with you.” Rocco stepped into the room. “Which is now even more necessary; we have guests that could be influential in the council decision.”
“It's perfectly natural.” Danny interjected.
“There is to be no discussion, if I cannot trust you then I will have you share a room with Thomas.” Rocco turned to Raven. “Whilst you have been a loyal pack member for ten years I am struggling to comprehend your sudden disobedience Raven.”
“Nothing was going to happen here Rocco. I would rather not let him be killed for another one of my mistakes.” Raven said quietly as he left the room.
“So I can never have a real relationship then?” Danny spat with rage. “I am gay, no matter how hard I try to be 'normal' it never works out. Look at what happened to Rebecca.”
“Look I do not make the rules. I have to follow them.” Rocco said apologetically. “We can try something else once he leaves and you have a permit.”
“Who makes the rules; because they need updating?” Danny said before throwing his head back down on the pillows in defeat.
Rocco chuckled “If you still feel that way in the morning then feel free to ask me again, but for now you need to rest.”

Danny dragged himself reluctantly from his bed as he heard the house begin to stir to life; he knew that he would have to be quick in order to get anything good for breakfast. Ash slammed into his shoulder pushing him out of the way and hurrying down the stairs. “Hey” Danny called.
