I had been waiting all summer for my Hogwarts acceptance letter. My poor family could hardly afford it, but they said for me to become a great wizard, I needed a great beginning. I agreed wholeheartedly, although, it devastated our Gringott's bank account. We had to get brand-new everything, which we could hardly spare.
"But, I'll have nothing but the best, if I can afford it, for my dear Lizanna."
My mother and father tried their best to keep everything secret with their Muggle friends. Even when they were donated money for all of our troubles, their friends never really knew exactly what their donated money was going to. Thankfully, the Gringott's would exchange Muggle money for wizard money. I kept saving and saving what little I could scrounge to hopefully get a broom by my third year.
My trunk was finally full of all of the books I would need for my first year, my robes, a bewitched kitten that would stay kitten sized forever, and a 9-1/2 inch mahogany wand with phoenix/unicorn core. We made it to Platform 9 but I couldn't find the 3/4 part. I then saw some other kids who had the same exact baggage I had so I decided to go talk to them.
"Bye, Mum! Bye, Dad! I'll see you during Christmas Break." I hugged both of them as they returned to our home. I ran over to the kids that I saw. The entire family had flaming red hair. Well, the entire family excluding one.
"Don't worry, Ginny! We'll be sure to send you a Hogwarts toilet seat!" said one of the twins. Then he caught my eyes with his. "Can I help you?"
"Oh, I've never been to Platform 9 and 3/4.. Do you mind showing me where it is?"
He grinned just like his brother beside him. They both looked at me with an air of entertainment and said, "Just follow us!" The first began running towards the wall at full speed.
"You'll hurt yourself!" I yelped. To my amazement, he couldn't hear me, for he had disappeared through the wall.
The other twin looked at me. "That's George, I'm Fred. Just do exactly as I do and you'll be fine."
I nodded and followed exactly like he said. Another boy went after me, followed by the dark haired boy who seemed to be out of place. We all came face to face with a scarlet beauty which happened to be the Hogwarts Express. We all put our trunks near the back of the train to be loaded with all of the other students' baggage.
"I'm Lizanna, by the way. Would you mind if I sat with you two?" They both smiled gingerly and I followed them. We got to a car that was all our own. I set down my kitten, Mydna, and put my bag in the seat. They continued, after setting down their carry-ons, to a compartment that housed the two boys that followed behind me earlier. "Did you hear him?" asked the red headed boy, "He said his name is Harry Potter. He's even got the scar, he does!"
I gasped as the raven haired boy pushed away his bangs. It was true! He was the only one to survive an attack from Lord Voldemort. "Do you reckon Lord Voldemort will be after you now that you've come of age?"
Everyone's eyes fell on me, each pair as shocked as the next. They then explained to me that even saying Voldemort's name instilled fear in the hearts of those who heard it. It made no sense to me. Harry didn't quite get the concept either. We made it back to our car before the train started moving. Although I kept silent, the twins kept talking about their plans for joke shop tricks. They never really addressed me but one of them, the one that told me to follow him, Fred, kept looking across at me to make sure their conversations kept me amused. He seemed to be drifting away from conversation and more towards silence. "Fred, is everythin' alright?" George asked suspiciously.
"Say... Lizanna, was it? Why'd you ask to sit with us if you're going to be quiet the whole time?" Fred accused abruptly.
"Fred.."
