"Perfect shot, kiddo. Just remember to ask permission next time."

"Thanks, Coach." I said as I changed to my clothes before heading to my car. Camila already left with Cameron around 5. I sighed at the thought I'd be staying home alone tonight. I still couldn't believe Camila was supposed to take me to the party. All this time I thought she was going with Cam. But, well, she did.

"Hey, Shawn?"

I turned around to see a smiling figure. "Hey. Aren't you suppose to be at your party?"

Hailee shrugged, "Well, I had detention...", she said blushing slightly, "for being late to Mr. Jack's class. You know how he is."

I smiled. "Yeah..need a ride? It's past six." She seemed shocked by the offer. "Sure. Well, aren't you supposed to be at my party already? Cam told me you were going with Camila." My face dropped and my smile vanished. "Oh...well," I said scratching the back of my neck, "Coach made me do overtime today. I missed practice yesterday for the competition."

"Oh. You were supposed to be Camila's date?"

I blushed before quickly denying it. "No! She just sorta forced me to go with her. I'm her best friend and all.", I chuckled nervously.

"Oh," she laughed. "well, why don't you be my date?"

I smirked, "Isn't Joe yours?"

"He's my second cousin, doofus.", she punched my arm lightly.

"I am not a doofus." I cocked my head towards her after totally ignoring how she hurt my man pride. "Fine." she raised both her hands up before smirking and grinning like a weirdo. "Idiot it is."

"Hey!", I rolled my eyes as I followed her into my car.

If Camila won't be the death of me, this girl will.

She pointed the directions to her house and soon enough, we were greeted by a huge house blaring loud music together with drunk and half passed-out teenagers on the front lawn. Wow, the whole package. I hate alcohol and I could already smell it from inside my car. (I couldn't really but I imagined the smell.)

"Thanks for the ride, idiot." she smiled before getting out of my car.

"You're welcome, Einstein."

I ended up bursting into laughter when she gave me a 'where-the-hell-did-you-get-that-nickname' reaction. "Einstein?" she almost choked. "That's the best you got?"

I held my stomach in pain as I continued laughing. "What? Do you want to be known as Ms. Know-it-all instead?" I said, managing a smirk before heading inside.

"I'll pass." I heard her from behind.

We were greeted with teenagers holding the iconic red cups filled with what I assume to be Vodka as we entered through the main door. I didn't think Hailee would be the type to allow drugs to her parties. I slid past a few passed out people laying on the couch before heading to the kitchen to get some soda (if they had any). My eyes widened when I saw Camila and Cameron making out on the counter. I quickly turned around before Hailee pulled me to a corner. "Shawn! Just the perfect guy I was looking for." she smiled.

"What? What do you mean?", I asked confused.

"We're.." she said pulling me to the stage, "going to perform a duet."

"What?" my eyes widened. This wasn't how I pictured my evening.

She took a seat and motioned me to do the same." Joe and his band are stuck in traffic. They're still two hours away. You performed Stitches in class before, right?" I nodded but before I could say anything else or even agree to do it, she handed me a guitar before ordering, "Play the chords."
