We got back at Camila's house around 9am. Sure, our parents weren't happy we had sneaked off to watch the ball drop, go to Dylan'd house, and all those events that followed but they were glad we were safe.

Mom had called Dylan's mom and thanked her for letting her kids, well us, stay for the night.

"So..." Camila started off. "school's starting next week. Wanna buy new school supplies?"

She gave me a sheepish smile. I shook my head, "What? Why?"

"Because you're paying and I found out some new cute colouring markers at the book store recently." she grinned even wider.

"Woah," my eyes widened, "Who says I'm going to pay?"

"Me, duh." she rolled her eyes.

"Listen to your girlfriend, Shawn."Aaliyah butted in.

"Fine." My cheeks reddened at the thought. My girlfriend. I chuckled. "But Aaliyah?"

"Hmm?"

"You're staying with Mom."

"My parents are letting me finish the school year before moving." Camila sighed after getting into my Audi. We just came back from Starbucks to get lattes after her trip from the bookstore.

I had totally forgotten she was going to move this year. "Then after?"

"I guess I'm going to go to college there."

"So, that's it?" I let out a sad sigh, "We're going to be miles away from each other?"

She didn't even reply to that for the rest of the ride.

We got of the car, a word still not uttered between us. Aaliyah gave us a questioning look as we got inside to which I only shrugged at.

"What's wrong?" I heard Aaliyah ask Camila as they went upstairs to Camila's room. I shook my head and headed to the living room. "Hey, Mom. I'm going out if you don't mind."

"Sure, honey!", she smiled warmly. "But be back here before lunch."

"Okay, Mom." I planted a kiss on her cheek before heading to my house.

I got into my room and changed into a cotton t-shirt and some jogging pants before slipping onto some running shoes.

God, I sound like a girl right now.

I grabbed onto my phone and some earphones lying carelessly on my study table. Locking the door on my way out, I plugged in the earphones and pressed the shuffle play button on Spotify.

Shape Of You started playing as I jogged across the neighborhood.

I didn't care if it was nearing 10am and I was getting some stares from people. I jogged faster and soon I realized that I was literally just running. Slowing down, I caught my breath when I saw Hailee and Cameron sitting in a park bench.

The park was a thirty-minute walk from my house. I hadn't realized that I had ran this far. I waved at them and they waved back. They looked like they were on a date so I just jogged past them, not wanting to disturb them.

I quickly sent a text to Cameron: glad youve found that girl, dude.🙂

A smile crept onto my face as I jogged my way through the neighborhood once again before heading back to my house. My mind was now relaxed and I was ready to settle things with Camila. I dialled up Aaliyah's number.

"Hello?"

"I need you to bring Camila at the park, the deserted one in ten." my breath was still short from running.

"Are you alright? You sound like you just got chased off to the park from the house and back.", her tone was a mix of sarcasm and concern.

How ironic. "Just do it." I laughed before hanging up. That was definitely a good pun.

---

I sat on a bench, a single rose on one hand, and a box of chocolates on the other. I spotted Camila getting out of her car, Aaliyah coming out from the passenger's seat from the parking lot.

A smile made its way onto my face as I stood up, greeting them as they came towards. Camila didn't meet my eyes. I forced a smile onto my face and kissed her cheek. When our eyes met, I whispered. "Hey, I'm sorry."

I handed her the chocolate.

"This," I said holding up the rose, "is for later."

I got my guitar hidden on the back of the bench and led her to sit on the bench before strumming the chords to a song I just wrote.

"This is for you, Camila. Although I wrote this when you and Cam were still together." I smiled.

Roses strumming.

It's not that I'm afraid I'm not enough for her,” I sung getting lost in her eyes,“ It's not that I can't find the words to say. But when she's with him, she seems happier, and I don't want to take that away.

I glanced at Aaliyah, signalling her to go away and buy ice cream or whatever.

How many times can I see your face?
How many times will you walk away?
I just have to let you know...

I took a brief pause.

I'm not try'na start a fire with this flame...but I'm worried that your heart might feel the same. And I have to be honest with you baby, tell me If I'm wrong, and this is crazy...

I handed her the rose. “but I got you this rose and I need to know...will you let it die or let it grow?

She smiled as she took the rose from my hand, whispering. "I won't let her die."

"Bold to assume it's a her." I said playfully.

"There you go again, brother." Aaliyah chirped in, "Always the mood killer."
