Chapter 21~ The Calm After The Storm and Unexpected Friendships

Perrie’s POV

-I opened my eyes trying to stop the sneeze caused by my hair tickling my nose. A dim orange light poured in through the window and light snores drifted through the room every few minutes from Eleanor. I pushed myself up into sitting position on the squishy couch in her room. I knew I wouldn’t be able to get back to sleep, so I pushed the covers off of my legs and slipped out of the room as quietly as possible. The house was quiet and deserted absent of the usual chattering and laughter. My feet against the wood floors sounded unusually loud in the silence.

-My echoing footsteps lead me straight to the kitchen, having not been able to eat anything last night after the fight with Niall last night. Or, the first fight I should say. Chills went up my spine like a bullet when I remembered the ‘hissy fit’ from last night. Niall, Nia, Sian...who wasn’t mad at me right now.

-As if her name through my brain manifested her, as I swung the kitchen door open I found Sian sitting at the counter. My heart pounded so loud I could feel the vibration like it was beating inside my ear. She looked up when the door swung loudly back closed. Already dressed in high-waisted shorts, white crop top printed with the words ‘Reality Bites’, and a beanie, she had her feet propped up on the stool next to her, focusing intensely on the camera in her hands.

- “Hi,” I said simply. Would she be furious again like last night, or pull the good old act-like-you-didn’t-even-say-anything.

- “Morning, Perrie.” She smiled pushing the hair that had fallen in her face back.

- “Why are you up so early?” I asked sitting tentatively sitting a seat away from her. Glancing at the clock, it was only 8 am.

- “Early morning is the best time for taking pictures,” she explained. The camera in her delicate hands was one of the fancy professional ones looking at it up close.

- “I didn’t know that you were a photographer,” I said and she smiled still looking down at the lens. “Why is the morning the best?”

- “I hate using filters and the lighting makes its own kind of filter.” Sian frowned at something on the screen and tapped a red button.

- “Can I see?” I questioned. She quickly placed a hand over the screen.

- “Sorry, I’m sure they’re really good though.” I faked a smile. I thought things were going well but I guess not.

- “I don’t really show anybody my camera, it has every picture I’ve taken since I got it 10 years ago…” she looked apologetic and I nodded now being able to connect it to how I never showed my song notebook to anyone. I glanced over at her as she held down the button to turn the camera off. She seemed almost like the girl version of Harry- dark and scowling one minute and all ‘cupcake’ and sweet the next. It didn’t seem at all like I was sitting a foot away from the henchman of Brittany, maybe this was what Harry saw that made her forgive her so quickly. No, I decided thinking about how utterly happy he looked, it must be a special pull like I felt with Zayn.

- “I’m really sorry about last night,” I voiced, needing to address the elephant in the room. “I shouldn’t have said that about you and Harry.”

- “No, you had a point. But thanks for apologizing, and I’m sorry for saying that stuff about the Jake thing. That was like a year ago, and I shouldn’t have decided you were ‘evil’ because of that.” She replied.
