The Rouge and The Prince
Chapter 1- interrogations and escape plans
FRANCE
MAY, 1576
Have you ever found yourself in a situation where you are being roughly dragged on a moldy wet floor by two huge soldiers? Well, I had very coincidentally found myself in that position and I really didn’t want to be there, as I’m sure you have guessed.
When the guards dragged me to the top of a staircase, I almost wanted to shout: Really? The reason for this was because at the time I had my hands and ankles shackled, hence the dragging.
“What are you waiting for, Rouge? Go down the stairs,” genius #1 grunted. Of course I had to get the smartest guards on the job, I thought sarcastically to myself.
“I would but unfortunately, I have about zero usage with my hands and feet,” I replied to him in my sweetest voice that I could muster at the time.
“Oh, right. Here” he bent down and unshackled my feet. I descended down the stairs and continued walking after I made it to the bottom. After a little bit of walking we turned a corner and were faced with a hall full of jail cells.
I looked into each cell as we passed them. I counted about 25 men combined and when we stopped at the last one I added two more. Well it was more like 2 and a half because one of them had to be related to a giant or something because he was ginormous.
I kept staring at him even while the guards fumbled with my hand shackles to get them off. Once they were successful in getting the metal cuffs off of me they pushed me into the open cell. I heard the click of the door behind me and had only one thought.
I’m doomed.
I looked the giant up and down trying to asses him. He stood at about 6 feet and a lot of inches, and had a short beard which was paired with a mustache. They were the same color as his hair and eyes, which resembled mud.
I pried my eyes off the giant of a man to look at my other cell-mate. My eyes met a reasonably normal sized man standing at about 5’9”; although he still towered over my 5’4” stature. He also had very dark hair and eyes which contrasted greatly to my blonde hair and blue-green eyes. My eyes are very strange because some say that they change color from an ocean blue to blue-green to an evergreen color, or so I’ve been told.
Both of them were obviously well fit and kind of good looking with their darker haired man with his hard, intense looking features to the giants’ softer ones. We stood there for about another couple of minutes until the dark haired man apparently decided to break the silence.
“How did you get here?” He asked. He had a gruff voice and by speaking I could tell that he was a little older than me by the way he carried himself and how mature is voice sounded. That wasn’t the way I would have started a conversation, but oh well.
“How do you think I got here? Taking a stroll through the castle on an evening walk?” I asked sarcastically. That was probably a bad idea seeing as he was stronger and taller than me but it really didn’t matter, I was smarter after all and that is how you won fights.
“I know how you got here, I’m not stupid,” he huffed, “what I want to know is what you were doing to get captured.” I nodded then quickly summarized how I got here.
“Well, I was prancing through the forest like every other rogue would, when they came and snatched me up like a rabbit who was caught in a snare (A/N for all of you who don’t know what a snare is, it’s a kind of trap that was used for small animals). After that I was dragged here and placed in this lovely room with you kind folk,” I finished with a small smile on my face. The giant laughed (very loudly might I add) and came over to give me a side hug and to ruffle my hair.
