There were two floors inside the farmhouse. The first was a stable area with a dirt floor with a stairwell at the end of it. This floor was filled with Germans. The second floor was made of wood with support beams made of stone. Germans opened fire on the soldiers who had just entered the building, killing most of them instantly. I ran in and got into cover behind one of the beams. I raised my PPSH and peaked around the corner, nearly getting my head blown off. Ivanovich watches this and tries shooting the Germans from the doorway. Most of his shots miss, but keep their heads down long enough for me to shoot some soldiers on the second story.
I start firing at the soldiers on the second floor. They notice me doing this and run to nearby cover and open fire. Their bullets hit the pillar next to me, I duck back into cover to avoid the shots. I reload the clip into my PPSH and get ready to fire another burst. Right then, a grenade slides to the left of me and stops. I could hear the fuse about to ignite and the timer ticking away. "Shit!" I yell. I run from out of my cover, hoping the grenade wouldn't blow me to pieces. The grenade exploded right when I was shot in the right leg. I crumple to the ground holding my gun. Through grinding teeth, I spray the enemy with a hail of bullets. I fire until the clip runs out, then I throw the gun on the ground. Bullets hit the ground all around me. I could hear Ivanovich yelling at the top of his lungs. He rushes into the fight hip-firing his machine gun. He then grabs me by the collar and drags me to another pillar. Moments later, part of the second floor falls because of the grenade. Smoke flies everywhere, and no one could see a thing. The ground shakes as Ivanovich throws a grenade back at the Germans. "Take that you cowards!" He yells. He then starts firing blindly into the smoke, which is met with blind gunfire coming no where close to us. Ivanovich kneels down beside me and looks at the wound.
"You're going to be okay." He says as he rips off part of his uniform. "It's only a scratch." He wraps the cloth around the wound and ties it around my leg. He pulls on the cloth, pushing the bullet deeper into my leg. I yell, but Ivanovich ignores it and keeps pulling. He stops and looks at the new bandage. "Better now?" He says, wiping his forehead. I nod, the pain was too unbearable to even speak. Ivanovich grabs my hand and pulls me up. "Lean against the pillar." He says, reloading the machine gun. A soviet soldier runs up to Ivanovich and orders everyone to start pushing forward. Ivanovich yells at the others to fire into the smoke, which started to dissipate. "Kill any and all of them!" He yells. "No mercy whatsoever!" The soldier starts speaking. "Orders sir?" He says. Ivanovich takes a pistol from the soldier and gives it to me. "Move up with the others, wait for me once you get out of here." Ivanovich says, checking the bandage.
The soldier nods and runs off with the others. Ivanovich tightens the cloth and I tell him to stop. "That'll do, for now." Ivanovich says. I look at the pistol. It was a classic M1911 that was shined perfectly. At this point the smoke dissipated completely, and the second floor caved in on the first. Wood pieces were everywhere from the cave in, many people were stuck underneath it. Ivanovich fires a couple more shots towards the Germans, not even hitting any of them. "You ready, comrade?" Ivanovich says. I nod and peek around the pillar. The Germans were falling back out of the farm and I sigh a relief. "It isn't over yet..." Ivanovich says. "Come on." I limp with him out of the farm to see a spectacular sight.
Our forces had made the Germans fall back up the hill, where they were making a final stand. "This is it, my brothers and sisters!" He yells. "For the Motherland!" We all start charging towards the top of the hill, I start dragging behind. Ivanovich notices this and pushes me forward. "Come on, Korsakov! Get in the spirit!" I raise my pistol and fire a couple of shots. My accuracy was terrible, but it will have to work for now. I run up the hill as fast as I could, were an artillery post was stationed. All of the Germans were making this a last stand point and using the cannon at point blank range. They fired a shot into the farm, destroying it completely. I yell and charge at one of the Germans. I tackle him to the ground and punch him across the face. The German, stunned at what just happened, raised his pistol. I smack it away from him and it goes flying into the air. I grab my own pistol and jam it into the German's gut.He screamed and I pressed the trigger. He didn't stop screaming. I pressed it again, still he did not stop. I fired until the clip emptied and he stopped, blood spurted from his chest. Blood hit me in the face and I tried rubbing it off, only making it worse. I aim my pistol at some Germans trying to counter-attack, firing. I hit none of them, but I kept their heads down long enough for Ivanovich to wipe them out. Not even a second passed when a German tackled me from behind. I face-planted into the ground and turned over to see what was going on. The soldier had his pistol raised and I figured he was aiming at my head. I used my legs and kicked the gun out of his hands. The gun went flying through the air and landed far away from us.
The German watched as the gun flew away, and I tripped him off his feet. He got up quickly, and pounced onto me. He gripped onto my neck and tried strangling me. I gasped for air and punched him across the face. He had a firm grip so I used my knee to hit him in the groin. He cursed and fell backwards, letting go of my neck. I stood up and looked at him. The man was the typical German, blond hair and blue eyes. In a way, he looked a little bit like Zakov. Then I started thinking about Zakov, but got my mind set back onto the fight. The soldier looked up to see me. Tears were in his eyes. He was like me, normal civilian thrown into a war. Probably should've stayed in Moscow and accept the stupid promotion. I tried to not think about it and stared at him for a while. Ivanovich saw me staring at him and yelled "What the fuck are you doing? Shoot him!" I ignored Ivanovich and kept staring at the GermanIvanovich got really angry at me and started yelling. "I will finish him for you!" He yelled as he raised his machine gun. The German noticed this and got up. Dodging Ivanovich's bullets, the German got away and ran down the hill. "Fucking dammit!" He yelled and kept firing as the German ran. Ivanovich threw his gun on the ground and started yelling at me about what I just did. "You let the rat escape!" He said. "If you weren't a good friend of mine, I would say you are a rat!" He yelled for a while longer but knew it was no use. He walked away and picked up his gun. I
watched the German run all the way back to his post. I gave a short sigh and walked back with Ivanovich. This book has been discontinued by its creator, VectorHelix, until further notice.
